Europe has negated its national mosaic for too long. It produced frustration and rebellion, and it is the fuel that burns in the engine of nationalistic populism. France is one of the worst cases in Europe since its constitution has not yet recognized the various regional languages in France, not to speak of a real policy to welcome immigrating populations and make them feel at ease. In France, we are dealing with non-French languages as if they were some stigmata of some monstrous essence. We know the result. But you will say in Great Britain the various communities are recognized and even institutionalized and yet it produced Brexit-, and the immigrating Indian or Pakistani or West Indian populations are first in their ranks. Yes, because they were trained into loving themselves and hating all those who were from other origins, particularly Europeans at first and then immigrants from Africa and the Muslim world. I remember being treated, me as an English speaking European and my wife as an English speaking American like plain s**t by some Southern Asians in a Southern Asian restaurant across from King's Cross Station in London in the late 1970s. Nothing new under any British sun.
