A new adventure

It started off as a pretty normal Saturday afternoon for Scarlett. She was in her room, drawing in her sketchbook, while listening to music. Scarlett Jones was an ordinary girl who lived with her family. Scarlett had long black hair and bright green eyes. She was an average height and she was skinny as well. Right now, it was just her in the house. Her parents were at work, her oldest brother, Liam was at rugby practice, her second oldest brother who was called Tom was at cricket practice and her other brother who was called Colby was out with his friends and wouldn't be back later on.

Eventually Scarlett got hungry and got up, pausing her music. She yawned and stretched, cracking her knuckles. Scarlett left her room and went downstairs into the kitchen, wondering what to eat. Just as she was about to open the fridge to see what there was, there was a bright flash. Scarlett shrieked in surprise and stumbled back. She started to feel dizzy and nauseous until her world went back.

Scarlett groaned as she opened her eyes. She wasn't lying on the kitchen floor, which was tile. She was lying on grass and she was was also looking up at a bright blue sky.

Dizzy and disoriented, Scarlett slowly got up, looking around. She didn't recognize this place at all.. it didn't look like Scotland..

"Where..?" Scarlett wondered. "Where am I?" She started to walk, hoping there would be someone nearby. "Hello? Is there anyone here? Hello?"

Silver was in her room, playing on her phone before she went to get something to eat. She went back to her room and started to play a video game. Suddenly she heard a massive crash coming from downstairs, jumping in surprise. Silver got up and slowly went downstairs to see what the hell caused that crash. She hoped no one was breaking in. "W-Who's there?' She asked. She grabbed the nearest object to her (which was a baseball bat) and walked towards the crash.

Scarlett grumbled to herself as she walked through the forest. "I told them to wait up for me but they never listen.. now I'm stuck looking for them. Just brilliant." Scarlett muttered.

She and her brother had met up with some of his friends to go hunting. It had gone well, until they decided to run off somewhere and not pay any attention to who they left behind.

Scarlett wasn't looking where she was going and tripped over a tree root. She let out a shriek and landed on a rock, cutting her leg.

"Oh for the love of..!" Scarlett hissed. "Damn that hurt!" She looked around. Her ankle hurt a bit too. She examined the wound, seeing it wasn't too deep but it was still bleeding. Scarlett looked around. "I need to bandage the wound.."

It had been a few weeks since Scarlett had met Link. She tried to visit as much as she could, though sometimes she was busy or her brother had dragged her on one of his adventures with his friends.

Scarlett was currently by the lake, enjoying the sun. She ran her hands through her hair. "My hair needs a wash.." she muttered. She had remembered to bring her hair products that she used to wash her hair with. She looked around for Link. He was probably hunting.

Her brother and his friends still didn't know about Link. She would tell them... eventually.

COLBY

Colby was currently out with friends at a nearby theme park. It had been a few weeks since Scarlett had strangely disappeared. His friends were getting worried about Colby, since he was trying to find his sister so they persuaded him to go with them to the theme park, even though he wasn't in the mood to go with them. He wanted to find his sister. So far they had gone on a few rides, gotten something to eat and were now walking to the next ride. They were chatting about various things, just something to get Colby's mind off Scarlett.

Colby smiled gently and sighed. His friend Sam put a hand on his shoulder, to comfort him. They walked towards the fountain in the middle of the theme park. Colby looked at the fountain, sighing. He just wanted to find his sister and stop having the stupid nightmares he'd been having for a couple of weeks.

"I wish there was a way to find her.." Colby thought.

The Golden Compass

Scarlett and her dæmon peeked behind a doorway to check if the coast was clear for any of the cooks or servants that might be setting up the large hall for a dinner the college was throwing. Scarlett looked around before darting into the hall, her dæmon following her.

"This is a bad idea Scarlett. You're going to get caught." Her dæmon sighed. His name was Tearlach and he was in the form of a Scottish Wild cat.

"Oh stop your fussing, Tearlach." Scarlett rolled her eyes. "We'll be fine." She stopped and turned.

"Link, come on!" She yelled to her friend in a hushed whisper, looking around. "This way!"

Link and Scarlett had known each other for ages, since they were children. Scarlett's uncle travelled a lot but was a good friend of the college so Scarlett was here. They had met one day and instantly became friends. Scarlett wasn't sure why Link was here, but she didn't question it either.

Scarlett's attention was diverted when she noticed a few glasses. She walked over and flicked one, the sound radiating through the hall.

A woman ran through the fields, holding her four year old daughter. She looked around before looking at her daughter again, who was asleep. The woman began to run again to the forest. She got deep into the forest before putting her daughter down. "You'll be safe here." She whispered before leaving the forest.

After a while the young girl woke up, looking around. "Mama..?" She asked. "Mama!" No sign of her mother. Her eyes filled with tears. "Mama!" She started crying. She was scared and confused.
