Friday morning, I thought I’ll spend some time sketching at the #indianmuseumkolkata - I love the Barhut Gallery which displays wonderful collections of a Buddhist stupa from Satna , MadhyaPradesh . I hoped and prayed that there shouldn’t be much crowd at this gallery , which is located at the ground floor ,near the entrance. I know, the natural history section of the museum is very popular, so most of the people ,crowd that gallery (so I knew I’ll be fairly safe) But the museum authorities gave me much grief today - they have strange rules , inside the museum- one can take photographs , hug the statues and pose for selfies , use a flash and film a video - but one cannot take out a sketchbook and draw. It’s illegal !They drove me out - but I had managed to do this drawing , ( well the basic structure at least! ) came back home and completed it ( pix for reference) and did the pencil rendering . In this illegally done drawing there is the #LionCapital - 3rd Century BCE from Champaran Bihar, India. Located at the entrance of Indian Museum , Calcutta. #Wish fulfilling tree- 2nd Century BCE from Gwalior MadhyaPradesh, India. Also located at the entrance of the museum. #indianmiseumkolkata#mydailysketchbook #pencildrawings #blackandwhite #kolkatadiaries #igkolkata #kolkatacacophony #myhappyplace (at Kolkata) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqk_YyTnq1QWQjfygxpNy9oGuA32Yj4U4R1aVM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=a6tq707lk88z
