He can't remember why he's laughing, but his entire face hurts with it; his stomach aches and hiss cheeks feel sore and yet every time he tries to stop the laughter, something about Lestat's eyes on him makes him erupt all over again. He's always hated the way Lestat knows exactly how to make him laugh; most nights he is impermeable to such gimmicks, or at the very least able to suppress it with a stern look or a simple roll of his eyes. But the whiskey-warmed blood in his veins has rendered him defenseless to Lestat's awful wit, and the worst part is— Louis doesn't hate it at all.
It's bright and loud and obnoxious; not the restrained chuckles or indignant huffs of laughter that he has constrained himself to, but something full-throated and unapologetic.
"Stop it!" He leans his weight against his lover, nearly sends them both crashing into a lamppost with his clumsy staggering steps.
"Don't— don't look at me."
