Why crafting tables?

What else would he use? What is the fundamental thing every single player needs to do anything else? What's the first thing every player makes?

You could argue it's the king, symbolizing Avery as the one being crafted to become his perfect vessel to take one step closer to our world. But would an entity as he know how to do that? It's too careful of a gesture. Too specific. Too clever, like it came from a man who knew to set up multiple traps when followed, and to encode a message for the future readers.

What better to guide a friend who you've told to not follow you, to stay away and save his own skin, than the block that's entirely human made?

I know the bird imagery in fandom designs is meant to be angel/icarcus connection for d3rlord, but an art piece in my queue pins him like a bug and I cannot get that visual out of my mind. Insects who thrive in every corner of the world, who sneak into things, who are, frankly, killed without thought. D3rlord as a bug drowned in water because the honey slathered on the lid promised sweetness

The complete and utter dread I got realizing Derek was not the one who put his laptop in that storage locker is AAA the through line is absolutely heart wrenching.

The DMS have a track record of testing things they shouldn't be on civilians. For one reason or another, Derek is given one of their Minecraft versions with a virus in it. This virus had already been tested on a community of people, the cult, OR was genuinely brought into the game world by their clumsiness and seized by the DMS. With Derek, the test is clearer - and more fatal.

Derek is seized by the DMS who can only study the virus - the king - while he's alive. Derek who can see everything, knows Avery is going to be caught up in whatever the hell the department does, and tries to warn him. He can't stop them from taking himself, nor the laptop, but he can try. He writes his goodbye, and becomes one sliver of knowledge more vast than all the oceans of the world. He's terrified of that void, but its the only known thing he can see waiting for him.

The DMS figure out the code and place the laptop in Avery's path. This is something new for them to study about the virus, and they're not about to miss their chance.

Avery gets the laptop.

All is well at first, until the same curiosity that got him the laptop sends him down to the mine and to the book. He records his video.

The footage is found.

Avery watches the video, gets back into the world and does his very best to save someone already gone.

Which he does. The DMS lose their test subject. They seize the surviving footage, unwilling to let their failure be known.

But Avery still remembers, and mourns, his friend.

I think there's something quite compelling about Etho's POV so far. You can absolutely, clearly, tell he's in his element and it's genuinely drawn people in to listen and watch and follow. Imagine the god you watched (the god that inspired you) get the chance to craft again in his original studio; don't look away, don't blink.

Do what he says.

It may eventually lead to hubris, this sort of confidence, but for now, I'm interested in falling in line as they do. These big boisterous laughs, the audible grins in his quips and pranks, good heavens how are you supposed to resist?

aro: tt toriel,, because I think it... almost makes sense actually for her character. a mother who can't exactly figure out how to do all this, who can't love as she's "supposed" to, who does her best anyways. I think it'd honestly add a reaLLY good depth to her narrative

crack: yknow a fascinating read of dessknight is transfem, and honestly... honestly wouldn't that be so cool.

attack: carol i think genuinely needs the release of a good brawl. i honestly love her so dearly, she's such a fascinating character to me and fighting her would be like the toriel ruins fight to me; what will your soul show us, and what hurt is lingering there?

With all the world's knowledge stored in books, on twisting and strange shelves that repeat in fractal echoes off into the distance, there's a certain sense of belonging. It isn't exactly the first word he would've picked but it feels the closest to the truth. His mind nowadays is exactly like one of these shelved structures.

He's one library amongst others.

Or perhaps each book here contains a little bit of him, bearing the weight that fuzzes out the edge of his vision when he looks away. He's glad for it, whatever it is. He'll gladly be one book on the shelf, if his knowledge can help a friend.

Throwing theories from the MOON, but what if sans and grillby at the two dont forgets for gaster with the machine in sans' basement

- grillby and sans seem to know each other, per both in game and newsletter lore

- same store in deltarune

- fuku in deltarune said it'd be weird for a fire elemental to serve drinks > grillby isn't a shop keep in deltarune > so why not??? connected to sans in a different way ??

- having fire around would be a good way to always have a backup light when going "darker than dark" as per rasiel's monologue at the beginning of ch3 > plus fire always gives off Shadow, a world through shadow could be always possible to reach with a fire around
