🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?
I would say a vast majority of the time when I get a fic idea it's just an opening scene where the characters have a bantering conversation, and then I have to stop whatever I'm doing and write it down as fast as possible. And then I have that scene, and I'm like, nice. What else is going to happen?
Answering that question is by far the most difficult part of writing, and so I will often just keep on adding scenes in hopes that a plot - or even a fucking point - will make itself known to me. Really taking the time to figure out what I want to happen (other than sex, eventually) and writing an outline/scene list can be a great help so it's amazing how rarely I actually fucking do that.
But also the most annoying part of this is that if I write long enough it will become clear what story I was trying to tell all along, and how I subconsciously already laid the groundwork for where it was all going, and it's just been right there waiting for me to realize it. Why do I keep these secrets from myself?! So anyway if I could let myself know where these three separate WIPs are going that would be so helpful of me. Can't wait to find out what the hell I've been doing. I love writing so much actually, god I've missed this 😭
