Ah thanks ^3^ Maybe when all the captive prince short stories are published I’ll feel like getting into the fanfic? I’ve heard only good things about capri fic writers, I know there are some great fics out there. I’ll definitely add Etude to my “to read someday” list.

Laurent as anything other than a Slytherin is baffling to me. “Cunning folk who’ll use any means to achieve their ends?” Has there ever been a better description of Laurent written?

Damen is fierce and loyal and once you have him as a friend/brother/lover he will go to the ends of the earth to protect you. He does brave things in that pursuit, but his motivations are very Hufflepuff in nature.

Writing a whole fic about it could also be more fun than doing your homework, I've been told...

....sadly I’m so stuck on my homework that probably almost anything is more fun. hahahaha.

But I am really tempted by the Auguste idea. I’m developing the backstory in my head! You’d think in general that whichever guards got dungeon duty would observe that the guy in there was the crown prince, so maybe it’s a man-with-the-iron-mask type scenario and they don’t realize who it is until Jord is organizing dungeon reform and takes the mask off. 

Mask or not, I think Auguste had a nice guard who snuck him extra food and talked with him for a while each day, and the Regent showed up every now and again to gloat and talk about his evil plans, so Auguste is not completely in the dark about what’s going on and he’s very worried for Laurent.

However, Damen is a bit of a surprise.

She avoided mentioning religions on purpose, I remember hearing (or reading) about it on an interview with Pacat herself.

I can certainly see the reasons for avoiding it in the books. With the way the societies of Vere and Akielos function you’d have to create new religions for each; none of the religions of our world really fit.

It’s hard for me to imagine these countries and people existing without some sort of religion. Humans have had religion for nearly as long as we’ve had societies. Lots of different ones, sure, but it’s still always been there.

So, assuming you give each culture a religion where the sexual behavior of each society is in line with the respective religion (removing that morality problem from the mix), then adding in religion as a further difference between the two becomes kind of fascinating. Especially if Akielos has a religion similar to the Greeks, with many gods who are considered to be powerful but not infallible, prone to human urges and motivations, and Vere has a religion a single god that’s considered infallible and either omniscient or omnipotent  (I’d say a single god can’t be both, but that might be my Judaism showing).

I’m just fascinated by this topic. It would be really fun to explore in a fic, especially one about Damen and Laurent trying to stay together and keep their countries friendly after the series.

Most just devour, I did and then went back and read them slowly. However my friend who I lent my books to read them slowly. A book a week. Sounds fast but the books are quick reads.

Devoured in two days. Barely slept.

Like?? I skim read all three books in an evening. And now I’m trying to pace myself to read them properly, but??? It’s hard. What the heck.

On Subcultura (ICYDK: a webcomic site of Spain and Latin America) there’s an activity called “Frankencomic”: it consists of remaking a webcomic, where each one makes a frame. This time we worked with Liralicia’s “The Lonely Moon”, and I had to remake this frame. By the way: she loved it!
