Pride Month | Chloe Price x reader
What’s this about? A drabble about what it’s like to spend June with such an amazing girlfriend as Chloe Price!
Warnings? Nah. Well, it is 2am, and this is unedited, but oh well. Also, it’s late.
It took you a few seconds to understand the multi-colored light coming from the phone screen, your eyes squeezed from the contrast to the pleasant darkness of sleep. Steph’s good morning snaps tended to be more discrete than that. The disorientation didn’t last long, though - it’s not too hard to grasp the meaning behind a shiny “It’s Pride Month!” stamped in a rainbowish font.
Your eyes widened as realization dawned on you and you broke into a smile. Finally! You had been in the countdown for weeks, eager for the four weeks in which you encouraged to express your sexuality as much as you wanted.
“Chloe!” You excitedly nudged the sleeping girl beside you, answering the texts with some cute bitmojis, “Hey, babe, c’mon!”
She grunted, a small grimace on her face as she edged closer and threw an arm around your body. You rolled your eyes - it was always a challenge to get her up before noon.
“I know you’re awake.” You stated.
“No, you don’t. You’re dreaming.” Her voice was hoarse, the grogginess evident. She scooped you closer with her leg.
“It’s a special day!” You insisted, waiting for her to get the hint.
“No more than my sleep, it’s not.” Ok, so maybe she wouldn’t get the hint.
You smiled as you pressed send to the cute as hell photo of Chloe Price. Steph’s reply was almost instant - a series of laughter emojis.
“Did you seriously just take a pic of me? In this state?” Your girlfriend opened one eye to glare at you.
“You mean in your everlasting hot state?” You raised an eyebrow.
She let out a soft whistle “Smooth.”
A few silent seconds passed. You took in air to speak again, but Chloe was faster.
“Argh, fuck it.” The girl groaned, moving to put her weight on her elbow against the bed. “What the hell is so important?”
“It’s June 1st.” You suppressed a giggle, though a silly grin still made its way to your face.
You ignored her annoyed expression and patiently waited until her still half-asleep brain processed that information. Predictably so, Chloe suddenly jumped on you, pushing your back against the mattress in one never-breaking kiss. You chuckled, tangling your fingers around her hair. She smelled like leather in the best way possible.
“Took you long enough,” You teased, admiring her now wide-awake smile. Was it normal that the fact that you’d scored such an awesome girl in your life felt completely surreal? A girl whom you loved with all your heart, who took you to late car rides and gave you old-school vinyl for your birthday - could you really be that lucky? It certainly seemed so, once you were about to enter a make-out session.
“You could’ve said so. I’d be kissing you for longer,” She smirked, diving to touch your lips again, “Happy Pride Month, (Y/N).”
“Happy Pride Month, Chloe!”
“Wait, is that- You’re blasting pop?” Your jaw fell as you turned around from half-open window to look at her. Chloe was crouched next to the sound box and barely spared a glance at you as she spoke:
“Listen closer, dumbass.”
You kept on looking at her, clueless, for a couple of beats. Then, the familiar melody got into your ears. Oh. Not even a second later, you were already singing along.
“Hayley Kiyoko is my only exception to the no-pop rule,” She stood up, an almost smug grin on her face. You surprisingly blushed - weren’t you supposed to be past that stage?
“Gotta worship our queen, right?” You smiled, starting to sway to the beat.
“Of course, that’s why I worship you every day.”
You widened your eyes, struggling to even produce a reaction. Smooth. You opened your mouth to answer, but Chloe turned up the volume before you had the chance to. Oh, that cocky smirk. That was gonna be the death of you someday.
The teenager made her way to you, reaching out a hand. You gladly took it. Shortly, both of you were jumping on the bed to the beat of every song in the playlist. Needless to say, it did end in more kisses and an eventual grinding against the wall.
“Oh. My. God.” You breathed, mesmerized by the fabric spread on the floor, “This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!”
“I know, right? Hella cheap, too.” Chloe added, clearly proud of the LGBT flag in front of the two of you, “C’mon, help me set it up!”
“Wait, what?” You frowned at her, “Where?”
“On the window, we’ll take the US one off” she explained, already heading to said window.
“David... is gonna freak when he sees it.” You said, carefully. The man already complained about the graffiti and posters, let alone a giant gay flag for the whole neighboorhood to see.
“Yeah, that’s a big reason as to why I decided to do this,” She said nonchalantly. You sighed - would it be too dramatic to facepalm? “C’mon,” Chloe insisted, “My room, my rules, right?”
“I know I’ll regret this, but yeah, I guess so.”
Music still played softly in the background as the two of you pulled the US flag down - which Chloe insisted to keep for art purposes (it actually meant graffiti on a national symbol, but oh well) - and struggled to hang the rainbow one.
“We should really get a chair,” You said, arms crossed.
“Nah, you can do it. One second, one inch to the left, and this room will be fucking amazing. And even gayer.” Chloe grinned, already crouched with her hands clasped in front of her.
“I suck at leg-ups and I’ll end up tearing this thing in half,” You warned one last time before giving up - there was no winning over Chloe Price’s persistence.
Taking a deep breath, you prepared yourself and placed a hesitant foot over her hands, your muscles clearly shaking at the lack of balance and stability. Alright, just push it a little bit more to the left. Easy peasy.
You shifted your weight, pushed the ground, reached out your hands to the flag and- suddenly you sight was obscured by a mass of colors and, in the blink of an eye, your back hit something softer than you’d expect the ground to be.
“Ow!” Chloe let out a string of curses from underneath you, and you quickly scrambled away, the gigantic fabric still over the two of you as you lay on the floor beside her, trying to stifle a laugh. She glared at you.
“I told you so!” You finally broke out into a non-stop laughter. Maybe it was the sun shining through the multitude of colors, maybe the alternative playing a few feet away, maybe the fact that her blue hair made her seem other-worldly, like a gift Earthlings would never be able to truly understand.
Maybe you were drunk from the beer you two had stolen from the fridge earlier.
Whatever it was, it did lead you to one of the most passionate kisses you’ve ever had, a mess of groans and whispers, grindings and giggles, the smell of leather, dust, deodorant, the urge to hold her like the world depended on it. It seemed love flourished under the prettiest flag ever created, fit for the best month of the year.
This is not my best work, I’m aware. Still, I felt like typing it out and did so for the last 3 hours xD feedback and reblogs are amazing and much appreciate! also, quick reminder that requests are open for both male and female characters - though I will prioritize girls during June for obvious reasons! :)
Happy Pride Month, folks!
