@lisashay so something happened when I tried to post the answer for your ask but luckily I had copied the answer, but not the question :( But I’ll just post the answer I had written about Zumbara on my playlist.
No problem. Zumbara is a song by Dimonde Melkamu Ft Asne Abate, although the version on my playlist is by DJ Noor ( in the music video to his version almost everyone is west African). Zumbara could have just been used for rhyming reasons. However I think it most-likely means something in one of the Benshangul/Gumaz languages (Ethiopia has over 88 different languages and dialects), most likely something along the lines of play the Zumba because during some verses the guy would say: Zumba beluma Zumba beluma Zumba beluma Zumba Zumba beluma is an amharic action verb/ command that tells the listener to do something, in this case to play the instrument. In the chorus they repeat: zumbara zumbara zumbara zumba zumba Zumba is an Ethiopian horn instrument, you can see many examples of it in the music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QDnFISnizE ). The girl is basically talking about her home land and how much she loves it. How when she’s in Addis Ababa (Finfin), and she misses home she listens to the Zumba. She also discusses how the Zumba is used e.g. it’s used to make music as a welcoming, and as a send off--the first 2 verses actually talked about that. In the third verse she is talking about the beauty of the land, how the earth is like gold, and how people from Addis/ people not from there will never know how beautiful the region is.
