#FromTheSidelines It's A Small World After All... One of the mottos for the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida is "We Welcome The World", but it really is a small world after all. Kneeling on the beach area of the venue, a woman came up to me and asked what shot I was trying to get. She was all dressed in red, white and blue and carrying an American Flag. We started talking and I asked if she was here supporting a rower or just as a fan of the sport. She told me her daughter was on the Women's 8 Team. I thought her daughter's name sounded familiar to me but I couldn't quite place why. We talked about how awesome the women are doing in the sport and I said how much I enjoy covering it, and that I got into it after covering my niece's races. She asked where they row, and their names and before I could finish saying them, she said their names. Then she paused and said that she and her daughter, and her daughter's husband used to coach my niece's teams! What're the odds I'd run into her in the midst of all these fans! She said she wanted to get a photo with me to send to my nieces and show her daughter. So, she draped the American flag behind us and we got a couple selfies, but it's the second one I love even more because it's both of us cheering for team USA! Great meeting you #LisaSnyder! Thanks so much for the pic, and good luck to your daughter #KatelinSnyder and her teammates! #gousa🇺🇸 📸 @cyndichamberssports ••• •• • #usarowing #rowing #womens8 @sarasota_florida @nathanbendersonpark #wrc #wrc2017 #team #usa #olympics (at 2017 World Rowing Championships)
