Headcanon Questions

Prerequisite: Assuming this question is for our witch verse threads, these headcanons only apply to Elizabeth’s {Witch Verse}.

👩 What is your muse’s mother like? Does your muse have a good relationship with her?

Naomi Vuhs is a very strong independent woman, who strongly believes in survival of the fittest. Brought up by both fox parents amidst intense human warfare and politics, she is apathetic to humans and fully considers herself a separate, more superior species. The choices she makes are that which put her and what little she cares about (her child) in the best and most advantageous position in human society. 

Because of that, she may seem very traditional, abiding by societal rules. However it couldn’t be further from the truth: Naomi cares little for religion, gender roles and such. As long as one does not offend or disrespect her, she will return full etiquette as befitting her status.

Elizabeth was born and brought up in peacetime, while slavery was still commonplace in Southern Americas. She does not feel the separation in species as keenly as her mother, and is thus often ‘too soft’ with humans, as Naomi would say. However her mother’s emphasis on social status was fully taken as she saw how humans treated each other in the environment she grew up in.

Although due to all the above reasons, Naomi was very strict in Elizabeth’s education and behaviour (very much a tiger mum), their relationship is very close. Elizabeth is both awed and respectful of Naomi, and heavily reliant on her advice and judgement. Naomi too pampers her daughter whenever she sees fit, to show her what exactly she deserves and where she stands compared to anyone else. There is mutual respect, especially as Elizabeth grows into her powers and adulthood.

👨 What is your muse’s father like? Does your muse have a good relationship with him?

Daniel Brandt is a typical 1800s wealthy racist patriarch. (He was chosen by Naomi for his $$$) As Elizabeth is his only child, he loves her dearly and indulges her in her ‘hobbies’. However, as she is a daughter, he is also over-protective and of the opinion that she should eventually become a virtuous decent wife for a suitable son-in-law. Naturally, he regrets not having a son to inherit his business and estate. If not for Naomi having both magic and ability to keep him twirled around her little finger, he would have gotten himself mistresses in hopes of getting a son or tried to marry Elizabeth off. Instead, he lived to a considerably ‘old’ age of 56 without ever seeing Elizabeth down the church aisle before unfortunately dying from choking on food at a business gathering. And because they constantly moved every few years and Naomi used hypnosis, he never realised his wife and daughter never aged, instead thinking that he married and had a child later in life.

Elizabeth has very mixed feelings about her father. She is attached as any child would a doting parent, but caught in the limbo of a rebellious teenager through the rest of the years as she grew older. The differences between their values such as her personal freedom and interests created a divide where Elizabeth eventually gave up explaining and indulged him instead as she watched him age. They had their father and daughter moments within the privacy of their house.

When he passed, she cried. But with her mother by her side and the long, long years of immortality ahead, Elizabeth closed that chapter of her life and carried on. She still thinks of Daniel fondly, with much frustration, but that’s about it.

👶 Would your muse be a good parent? Do they want to be a parent, if they are not already?

Lise hopes and if he does become a parent, he would give his best to the child. However, when he is still attached to his mother, he wouldn’t feel capable of being a worthy parent as he still feels like a child. Hence, he would not want one, as he would prefer to enjoy his independence and adulthood longer. Approx 450 in age would be when he would consider having offspring.

If he did have a child by accident or adoption, he still would do his best to be a good parent. Unless of course he found someone else better for such a position before assuming it himself.

P.S. Witch Lise is very different from Mainverse Lise. With his mother around, much of his upbringing is changed, including his self-esteem and direction in life. Mainverse Lise can often be quite broody around 26-40 for children, just to have a sense of family.

While Lise has ocd, it is not the reason why he avoids touching other people. He uses it as his defence though. The reason why he avoids touch unless he initiates it or is aware and allows it, is because of both trauma and phantom pain. 

Because he heals perfectly, all his injuries from childhood and wounds in war leaves no scars. On occasions, especially during flashbacks but sometimes even without, areas where particular wounds would suddenly flare up as if they were still there. It happens more often when he is touched without consent. This is likely related to the abuse in his sexual history.

That aside, Lise rarely reacts strongly to unanticipated touches. The most he would freeze, before carrying on.

Lise is a very empathetic person, who validates and understands the emotions of others.

But because of his nature — his natural instinct for survival, learned pretence (managing his expressions) and compartmentalisation — the speed and ease of which he is able to suppress his PTSD and suicide-inducing fear and depression, he became unable to accept that he has the right to those emotions. 

To him, ‘true’ sufferers experience it for a longer period of time, hence suffer more and it would be too ‘egoistic’ to think he can relate and understand their pain fully - when he actually could. 

He is very optimistic and knows himself to be, so negative thoughts are also systematically suppressed. None of his actual PTSD, personal issues or mental problems are addressed properly. The constant suppression running in the background of his mind adds a constant stress and he gets easily emotionally exhausted. Which again is suppressed in times of need, forming a vicious cycle.

Unconsciously he prefers to spend time alone when he’s in such a state.
