So many things. So many great and wonderful things in this episode.

- The little nuggets of lore I'm eagerly picking up. Who were these witches that founded these tracks and can I know more about them? Why does Luz's magic hurt the Greater Basilisk?

- Amity's hallway freak out that caused me to pause the video so I could fall out laughing for a solid minute

- All the anime references

- The bell injured themself too many times and now uses a tiny bell to signal class change

- Principal Bump admitting he was wrong and letting everyone choose what tracks they want be in. Wish my school had done a better job of incorporating student interest into their schedules

This episode was far funnier than I thought it would be.

That kid’s face tells me this will be a good episode

Being a decent person makes you more friends than being a bully

Amity is a useless moronsexual disaster

I may be late picking up on this, but a good chunk of this show seems to be about learning to separate reality from fiction and I love it. Just trying hard and having a positive attitude does not mean you win in the end. There are other components and I do think some people need to learn that.

Grudgby looks like a fun sport to play, so long as you have magic

Willow isn’t the stereotypical shy friend. Heck, I don’t even think she’s shy so much as she’s just been done with all the crap she’s been experiencing for a while and is a jaded individual slowly learning that she can be herself again without ridicule.

The handwriting on the letters Camilla has been getting seems to match Luz’s actual handwriting.

Lilith used to be a redhead like Eda. What happened?

THE OWL HOUSE IS BACK!

I decided to be wait 'til after the show aired on TV (EST) to post my thoughts on the episode in no particular order.

- There are so many jokes in the book fair scene. I can't catch them all at once

- That shopkeeper is sketchy and is really bad at picking his targets. Why would you go after a well-known member of the Emperor’s Coven and the woman who flat out says is her sister? He definitely deserved that curb stomping

- I love Lilith and Eda teaming up. Even more than that, I love that there really isn't any animosity between the two like some other shows would do. They're sisters and they love each other; they just happen to be on opposite sides of the law.

- Steven and his shoulder pats will be remembered

- The curse makes Eda age faster

- John De Plume -> Nom de Plume

- Always read the fine print of any contract

- Love Luz using her magic

- They're poking at the famous Hero's Journey circle outline thing and the Save the Cat plotting advice

- I kinda want to read King's book

- Collaborating on a book together is hard, especially when you both have widely different tastes. It can be done but it would take a lot of work and compromise

- Honestly, though, I work better under an externally enforceable deadline

- Does that round little conspiracy theorist character have a name?

- King and Luz have been traumatized

Hooty annoys the ever-living crap out of me, but if anything bad ever happens to him, I will rage

Luz is risking expulsion from her dream school to steal a potential cure to Eda’s curse

Amity can’t go on the field trip because she hurt her ankle last episode. Continuity.

Gus and Willow are crime friends

Eda getting all mushy and sentimental, making Luz a magic caped cloak is the biggest red flag that something bad’s gonna happen in the whole episode

Emperor Bellows is creepy

What is that green goop? Why is in a mini heart? Why is he pouring it into his eyes? Why did it make him stop writhing in pain? Keep writhing in pain, I don’t trust you

I feel betrayed, which I think is the point

The question is why? She clearly buys into Bellows ideology, though it seems it’s more that she buys Bellow’s threat of harming (possibly murdering) those who do not conform to covens. Even if she does want to protect Eda from possible death, it’s still a crummy thing to do. What the heck?

I think this is the first downer ending -- not bittersweet, downer -- and it hurts

Lore:

Covens have only been around for 50 years. Before that everyone wielded wild magic. The lifespan of a witch seems to be far longer than that of a human’s, so how does no one remember 50 years ago? Is everyone just brainwashed either through fear or magic or something?

How did Bellows become emperor? Is he really that powerful? 

Everyone knows that they live on the corpse(?) of a titan. They even treat the nameless titan reverently. “The titan provides.” The heck?

The Emperor’s Castle is connected to the titan’s still-beating heart? Is the titan not dead? Why does the heart respond to Belllows? Why does Bellows need that goop to seemingly stay alive? Who the heck is this guy? What the heck is this guy?

YO, LUMITY’S A THING!! Even if it only ends up being one-sided because Disney

- King likes cat videos

- Luz is having trouble talking to her mom, which is fair. What do you say to a loved one you’re lying to? Especially when that lie involves a magic other-world where you are everything said loved one never thought you could be because the option didn’t exist back in your world?

- Hooty creeping everyone out

- Amity’s crushing hard

- Yeah, the description for grom sounds about right for this world

- Luz wants to be Amity’s hero

- Luz and Amity’s nighttime talk (I assume its night) is cute. Wonder why Amity was out there in the first place? To talk to Luz maybe?

- Amity beats the crap out of Hooty

- The t wins continue to be amusing. I feel a bit bad for the bro tho

- Eda is chaperoning. She has officially become Luz’s adopted mom.

- Sometimes you just gotta face your fears. - This moral message brought to you by Gus

- Figured Luz’s biggest fear is her mother finding out about everything

- The mom and the girlfriend to the rescue

- THIS DANCE FIGHT SCENE!

While none of this exonerates Lilith, I do understand why she did it, that she’s legitimately sorry ,and that she is going to try to make amends. It’s not like I ever hated her anyway

Luz’s glyphs don’t work in the human world but Lilith’s inborn magic does

Admittedly, I kind of wish there was a bit more internal conflict over Luz standing at the crossroads (twice if you count destroying the portal) between her human home and her new home on the Boiling Isles

I honestly hope Belos is going easy on Luz in this fight, not really taking her seriously or just getting a feel for how Luz fights and uses magic. Luz has gotten better at magic but not enough to hold her own against a guy who is said to be the most powerful witch in the land for long

I’m glad the show kind of addressed the fact that everyone knows Eda is a wanted criminal but doesn’t really care. She’s helped a number of them so they stand by her side when she needs it. It’s good.

Luz has been threatening people left and right this episode. I like it

Of course Belos spins this as a cautionary tale

Well, now I’m confused as to how that pain sharing spell works. By all rights, shouldn’t Lilith get the full curse -- feathers and all -- or have I just misunderstood how this spell works?

Eda doesn’t have her magic anymore 😢

Does Lilith still have her magic? Is Lilith going to be living at the owl house now?

Belos is making a portal and it looks like the one from Gravity Falls. That can’t be good.

Now, I’m really curious. If Belos truly doesn’t want to conquer the human world, then what does he want? Him being a human wanting to get back home isn’t out of the question but isn’t confirmed either

Also, what’s with this titan nonsense? I get that he’s using it to control the mildly religious coded populous but how is it that Belos got to be the voice of the titan? Who agreed that he could do that? How did he convince people that he could do that? How much time passed between the titan dying and “wild witches” and Belos being Emperor?

Without the portal, Luz’s phone doesn’t get reception so she can’t text her mom anymore. After a while, Camilla should notice something screwy going on, unless the letters mysterious address that (that’s really concerning)

Two episode in one day? I feel spoiled.

- This is gonna be a pun-filled episode, isn't it? Best brace myself.

- The King of Demons misses Luz

- Infestation of pixies?

- Death hexes are a thing and they're terrifying

- I'm surprised Tibbles is in this episode but not surprised that he's at a carnival

- Let Owlbert play games

- Of course Eda just takes over the stand. She's not totally wrong about humans shedding their skin, though. What is dust in the Boiling Isles made out of?

- Aw, King wants friendship bracelets

- I really feel for King this episode. I know how it feels to not only be that extra wheel but to be demoted to the extra wheel because your friend's friends decided to invite themselves and you just kind of get pushed to the wayside. It sucks, hard.

- Has Luz ever had a bad reaction to any of the food in this world?

- Boscha has pet pixies?

- King should know better than to trust carnival folk, especially ones with suspicious mustaches. He lives with Eda, scams are kind of her thing at times

- Did Tibble try to give Eda a potion to make her disappear? I feel like there'd be a counter spell to that

- Gus is seriously getting on my nerves with the way he patronizes King this episode. Let King speak!

- Oh, no, it just shrinks people. That's way better than just disappearing a person

- Tiny adventures!

- Willow has the one brain cell among her friends

- Either there was an Utena reference in the mirror house or I just associate pink hair Revolutionary Girl Utena too much and need to stop

- Sword horse!

- "Those are my dumb kids!" Good to see Eda growing into her role as the group's mom

- Why would a world where someone can start a fire with the wave of their finger make memories flammable polaroids? That's just a recipe for disaster, as is shown

- I'd imagine someone with traumatic memories wouldn't want their memories to be displayed for all to see

- Shenanigans are schemes little siblings

- Hexside is an actual school with a photo class and a journalism club. They have actual non-magic focused classes

- Nice to see that Amity can screw up just as badly as Luz at times, if not worse. Welcome to being a teenager and making terrible impulsive decisions that you always immediately regret

- Yeah, magic photo memories are a bad idea. Look what they did to Willow

- Ooh, Eda burned Amity pretty badly there

- Willow's mindscape is very fitting. I wonder what everyone else's mindscapes look like

- Luz has no sense of self-preservation and it shows

- Who plays hookie from swim lessons?

- Okay, all these little memories are really cute

- Willow has two dads

- Inner Willow is rightfully furious

- Inner Willow just yeeted Luz into the memory

- Shockin no one, Amity's parents are trash and they made Amity stop being friends with Willow

- Now I'm curious about the class structure of the Boiling Isles. It's built on magic, right? The stronger your magic, the higher you can rise in society should you so choose? So, like, all the Empreror's Coven consists of high society, right? What are their jobs though?

- I like that Willow and Amity don't immediately make up and pick up where they left off. The hurt experienced all those years just doesn't go away all at once. It's a lot of complicated feelings. But, while Amity and Willow might not be friends again, they're no longer enemies and it's a start towards friendship.

- I have no idea what Gus was expecting with Hooty
