If you are unsure of how people would figure out how to live in the apocalypse, go look at what medieval people did. They effectively mastered the art of making something out of nothing.
They wouldn't have specific items for that stuff. At the most, very few, limited, and worth more than gold. They were left with what they had in space, and that wasn't a lot.
Shove a rag/piece of a shirt/some kind of linen in there and pray. There isn't much else to be done. They could make pads (e.g. shove some pillow fluff into a cloth tube), but that would involve destroying other valuable items.
Undue stress like a dystopian future nightmare would cause irregularity and probably a cessation altogether in many of the surviving women.
