tbh this ended up not as angsty as I meant it to be but I love this prompt ;-;
He sees you and it feels like he got kicked in the gut
Out of all the times you could see each other again, why did it have to be now?
You two had met in the garrison on the very first day, but once he left the two of you had mostly fallen out of contact
Not because you wanted to, but because you were just too busy to go out to the desert all the time to see him
And then, well, there was the whole matter of him disappearing into thin air one day
He thought that all those months away from you would help him get over his crush on you
A crush he was convinced was unrequited
It didn’t help at all in the end
“Y/N? Y/N, you shouldn’t be here!”
You feel like you’re going to cry because you were beginning to give up hope that he was still out there
Yet here he was, right in front of you
He holds you like he might never see you again and for all he knows that might be the case
You vaguely hear shouts from his teammates that they need his help, and Keith begins to pull away before he hesitates, glancing down at your lips
You have to be the one to kiss him
It’s short but passionate and it’s the best that you two can have right now
“I’ll find you after this is over, I promise!”
If you both survived, at least
It felt like the first time he saw you all over again, only that time there wasn’t a threat of death hanging over your heads
At first neither of you know what to do or say, awkwardly standing a few feet away from each other
After all, one day he was getting reprimanded in class, and the next day he was gone
Now he was back, fighting off aliens like it was nothing and all you could think was that you had missed him so much
This only lasts for a moment, though
“So… You come here often?”
You grin and punch him in the arm lightly before giving him a tight hug
For all the times he’s hit on other people, he couldn’t quite forget about you
He just always figured you would find someone else before he got the chance to act on his feelings
It was so comforting to see him again that you very nearly forgot the battle going on in the background
Suddenly there’s an explosion nearby, ripping both of you out of the moment
“I have to go, but… I’ll see you soon, ok?”
Suddenly his lips are on yours and your head is spinning
He’s clumsy and nervous but you don’t even care because that goes for you too
As he runs off, he keeps glancing over his shoulder at you, hoping that he’ll be able to keep that promise
He wastes no time running up to you and asking you a million and one questions
Are you alright? Why are you out here alone? You weren’t fighting were you?
You should be getting to safety right now!!!
Suddenly you’re crying because holy shit since when was he alive?
He freezes up when he realizes and slowly starts wiping away your tears
“I-I just… Shiro, they said you were dead!”
“I know… I’m sorry, I should have tried to let you know so much sooner.”
He had never been one for pining but he had missed you more than he ever though he would since the last time you saw each other
While he had never been sure of how you felt about him exactly, he notices you looking at his lips and decides it was now or never
Gives you the softest kiss
“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you. Just… get somewhere safe.”
You make him promise to meet you again after the battle is over, and that he’ll be safe
“I’ve already had to get through you dying once… Don’t make me do it again.”
He’s never felt more guilty in his life because that’s something he can’t promise
There were more important things than his safety right now
With a last kiss to your forehead, he runs back to his lion and into the fight
“Y/N! Oh my god, are you ok?”
You heard him before you saw him, and the second you turn around he already has you in a hug
This wasn’t at all the ideal place for a reunion but neither of you cared all that much
After all, it wasn’t like you had all that much choice in the matter
A Galra invasion didn’t exactly allow for peaceful moments
All of a sudden he lets go of you and looks you up and down
“You’re not hurt, right?”
“I should be the one asking you that, you know.”
He laughs a little bit and it’s music to your ears
Lance runs up to the two of you— giving you a quick hey, wait what are you doing here oh my god please be careful, before telling Hunk that they needed to leave now
He looks between you and Lance for a moment before telling Lance he’ll be close behind him
Once Lance is heading back towards the battlefield, he takes a step closer
He kisses you quickly but it’s so sweet that it leaves your face burning red
“I know you deserve an explanation for, ya know, where I’ve been and stuff but… After this is over, you’ll get one, I swear.”
You watch him go, and just hope that the two of you will both make it out of this alive
She feels tears running down her face when she initially sees you, and she’s very glad that she was the one to spot you first in this case
Wipes her eyes a bit before running over to you, stopping hardly a foot away from you
“What are you doing here, Y/N?”
You’re in such shock to see Pidge that you almost don’t say anything
All of a sudden you’re throwing your arms around her and there might be tears in your eyes
“Where’ve you been all this time?”
She feels so guilty about disappearing, but now isn’t the time to explain what she’s been doing all this time
Just as she’s about to tell you she was sorry, that she missed you, that she might have a crush on you
She’s getting a call that they need to form Voltron right now
And all of a sudden, she’s kissing you before even she knows that she’s doing it
It’s gentle and sweet and you wished that you had more time“I-I… Um, we can talk about this later!”
Her face is burning and so is yours, but you think it’s pretty cute
You give her another quick kiss for luck before she runs off back into the fray, and you could have sworn you saw her pumping her fist into the air as she went
