Well, I can't sleep, but I successfully forced myself out of bed and did something for myself today. Setting up a new watercolor palette with 18 half pans of Daniel Smith brand watercolors. Ripped out the brackets and put magnets on the bottom of the pans to give me more space for colors. I'm also making myself a little color chart to go inside it with the names, pigment numbers, and stats on lightfastness, staining, granulation and opacity. Each swatch will also be partially painted over a black line so I can see the opacity myself. Some of these are probably getting switched out eventually (and burnt umber was the result of a mix up at Amazon, so I got a free color I didn't want). Colors from left to right and top to bottom (including colors that are on their way): pyrrol scarlet, pyrrol crimson, quinacridone rose, new gamboge, hansa yellow medium, hansa yellow light, viridian, phthalo green (blue shade), French ultramarine, cerulean blue, phthalo blue (green shade), carbazole violet, yellow ochre, quinacridone gold, quinacridone burnt orange, burnt sienna, burnt umber, and are umber. Maybe having a new palette and wanting to paint some botanicals for the art display at work will help me actually paint a piece. #literalwalloftext #imissmyhobbies
