I had a really wonderful time at the Appledore Book Festival this weekend - in what now looks certain to be my only ‘in person, in real life’ event of the year. Appledore is one of the largest cultural festivals in Devon but this year, due to the current situation with COVID-19 and the need for social distancing, it has been rearranged to a five-day Drive-In Festival. The weather was glorious, though, which meant that people could leave their cars and sit in their allocated spots, which was nice for me because it felt less like I was sitting on a stage in a car-park and more like I was interracting with real people! I was interviewed by the brilliant Susan Sandon, and the hour flew by. It was a brilliantly organised event and I’d like to thank those who put it together and helped it to run so smoothly, as well as those who took the trip out to come and hear me speak. It really made me realise how much I miss events, though - let’s hope we can get back to normal soon! . . #bookevents #literaryfestivals #appledorebookfestival https://www.instagram.com/p/CFZ55UwHcTY/?igshid=44zvkmalrpda
