What's the most recent book that you've read and fell in love with?
Honestly, I know I've posted it a lot but the ACOTR series. Honestly the writing isn't amazing or anything but the plot is so good. And I am super attached to the characters. A Court of Wings and Ruin just came in today, and I'm going to drop everything I'm SUPPOSED to be reading to devour this book. It honestly sucks me in so deeply its an amazing escape for me. And I was really craving a series that could do that for me it's been awhile since I've had that.
Do you keep track of how many books you're reading every month?
Yes! I'm not nearly as organized or detailed as @thebookbud (though she's a Virgo and I'm and Aries so it makes sense) but I do keep my goodreads up to date on all my readings.
Whats your stance on the debate as to whether or not we should disassociate the artist from their art?(artist= writer in this case)
Well, I think to some level there needs to be some kind of disassociation. But like any other artform, where does the work derive from? The heart, the soul. It's all feeling. So, just like any other artists writers embody their work in some way. They use their work to express themselves and work through their own experiences. So I think yes we should disassociate the artist to an extent but also keep in mind that they are emotionally connected to their works as well. I hope that's an adequate answer and makes at least a little bit of sense.
What do you do when you can't focus on a book?
Haha, well I sit it down. And then I stare at it all the time and feel horrible for not reading it. And that goes on for awhile and then I remind myself that reading is an escape not a job. So I let it sit until I'm ready to come back to it. And if I can't focus on the book because I'm really NOT enjoying it I DNF it and tell myself I'm allowed to do that. I think a lot of us readers love it so much that we forget it's supposed to be fun.
Do you pay attention to the gender/ethnicity/race/sexuality/ of the authors you're reading? Aka do you actively try to read books written by diverse authors?
Okay, so I read predominantly female authors. I don't think I actively go out to find diverse authors but I read books with a lot of diversity. Where the main characters are of another ethnicity or sexuality or race. I love diverse novels. And I know a lot of the books I've read and loved immensely were written by diverse authors. And have very diverse plots/characters. I'm not usually paying much attention to the author beyond female gender until I fall in love with their writing and decide to read everything they've ever written haha.
Paperback or Hardcover? Why?
Hardcover. I LOVE hardcover books. I love reading on my phone/kindle but nothing beats the weight of a hardback in your hand. They just look better too. I've been called a book snob because of this and that's okay haha.
What language would you like to learn just to read its untranslated literature?
Pick up the book closest to you, convince me to read it in less than 10 sentences.
A Court Of Wings and Ruin of course. If I didn't convince you earlier in this post I don't know if I can now. High fantasy, steamy romance, action and fighting. And honestly just a full escape from life right now, who DOESN'T want that? Even if romance or fantasy isn't your thing these books are great to get lost in, they make you FEEL and get you so invested you just need to know whats gonna happen next!!
