HI CRITTER!! i recently discovered u from ur amazing towqueen fic (LITFL) so i was wondering if u had any hcs for them, maybe off a little list i had. it would just be great to know what u think since ur hcs ive already seen are AMAZING!! :3

(sorry its long, and u ofc don’t have to answer all!!)

1. could you ever see them on being a more of a switch-ish couple?

2. where do u think they’d prefer their dates to be? and would they prefer public areas or more private, quiet sceneries?

3. u kinda answered this before, but how do u think each of them would cope with long-distance?

4. who do you see being more attached and attention-needy? and how would they call out for attention?

AAAAAAAAA SORRY I DIDNT ANSWER THIS RIGHT AWAY!!! Whenever I see the notification for an ask and it goes away I forget about it :,]

1. I've touched on this in another ask but yeah they could deviate from their typical dynamic if they were feeling something different, sometimes Mater likes stuff that makes him feel like he's in danger like kidnapping roleplays and knifeplay. I read a fic once where Lightning bent Mater over the hood of a car while he was working on it and fucked him like that and I could see them going for something like that every once in a while

2. It depends on where they are for what their dates tend to be, like if they're in Radiator Springs they'll go stargazing or go get fast food or see a drive in movie, or if they're in LA they'll go to a more fancy restaurant or maybe a club or a bar, they also just like hanging out at each other's homes. Whenever they're in LA Lightning likes to kind of parade Mater around like "ooo look at me with my handsome man over here" and Mater likes it too of course but what he really likes is to drive them wayyyy out in his truck with a blanket and maybe a few cold ones to look at the stars

3. They're a long distance couple a lot of the time so they're both kinda used to it but it still gets pretty rough. I mentioned the phone calls but they'll also just call and text for non horny reasons just sending updates throughout the day. Mater, of course, comes to all of his races [I feel like Cars 2 trying to say he didn't was total bs] whenever he can so it's not like they're always apart. They also visit a lot in the off season, Lightning mostly coming to rs but Mater sometimes making the trip to LA

4. Lightning. Lightning for sure. His ass gets straight up bitchy and mean when he goes too long without getting what he wants, and seeing Mater [and his other friends of course] become part of this eventually. If he or Mater have a busy schedule and he has to wait a long time for a phone call he will be in a BAD mood but that'll melt away when they can both finally talk. He's always the one that reaches out for whatever reason also, if he's just lonley or horny or had a bad day he'll shoot a text or try to call, but like I've mentioned when Mater starts to miss Lightning he keeps it to himself since he doesn't like being a bother. Whenever Lightning calls [which is often] he makes sure to ask about his eating habits and such to make sure he's taking care of himself

It's fun exploring the different aspects of (game) Falcon's character through fic like I have a tendency to write the SNES era one as a cocky little shit but I've also tried playing up the cool and mysterious bounty hunter angle to make him a little more taciturn and serious. GX era Falcon I tend to write as more conscientious and focused on doing good though some of his youthful attitude and cockiness still shines through lmao. There's also his general theatrical nature that appears in (I would say) all his iterations (and is I suppose par for the course with a cast this colourful) and his (outward) confidence and love of showing off that remains even in his upstanding GX era.

The flirtiness I tend to give him is completely a result of my imagination bc Falcon is not at all flirty anywhere in canon ever but I think it would fit in with his flashy and forward demenaour (especially SNES era) and desire for attention even if he's not necessarily actually interested that way. Gotta get that taunting and preening in after all.

In contrast to the way I write Andy I don't think game Falcon has quite so defined a separation in how he acts with/without the costume on, but I do still think being Captain Falcon is a performance as well as a mindset. When he doesn't have to put on the face of "Captain Falcon" I like to think of him being quieter, more withdrawn/desiring alone time to recharge, sometimes even anxious about social scenarios that he might have to navigate as not-the-Captain. This isn't always necessarily tied to him having the helmet/costume on or not—if he still feels like he's present in a given situation as "Falcon", he'll act the same way in or out of costume.

This is kind of tied to my name hcs for him—it's not just that he doesn't want to give out his first name, he really does conceptualize of himself most of the time as the persona of "Falcon". The only time I think he would use his first name or even think of himself using his own first name would be if he was with people he was extremely close to, whether that's family (I have no idea what's going on with his family situation lol), best friends, or serious long-term lovers. The switch in use of title/assumed name to actual first name is a symbolic lowering of defences, a signifier of increased intimacy and almost like mental permission to him to just be...himself without any of the performance.

In Thousand Five, Stewart has known him only as Captain Falcon, his public persona, for 11 years and counting so even when they hang out out of costume he still feels the need to put that act on, though the amount of acting he does unconsciously lessens more and more as he grows more comfortable around Stewart. At least that's the explanation I have for why he's been gradually showing more and more vulnerability in anxiousness, earnest desire for approval, clinginess, etc. as the story goes on lol. The part where they finally address each other by first name will be basically when the final barriers between them are dissolved and they're letting each other know that yes, it's ok to be your unfiltered self around me and yes, I'm offering up my honest unfiltered self to you in return (which is why this won't be for many chapters to come lol).

In Living in the Fast Lane, since it's SNES era Falcon and Stewart haven't known each other quite so long there and Falcon isn't yet quite so practised at the whole performance of being Captain Falcon thing so there's less separation between how he acts in and out of costume. But there is indeed still an internal pressure to conform to his usual persona and to stick to the familiar snarky rivals dynamic that is eroding despite his best efforts in the face of unfamiliarly tender and squishy feelings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The use of his Captain persona being a sort of safety wall and its gradual dissolution is always very fun and juicy to dig into and getting to write it happening in mutiple different ways is always a blast 🕺

Also uhhh if you're comfortable answering this here fdgf is there maybe going to be another smut scene in the Matqueen fic? or maybe in another fic? I love the whole fic in general, it's great, but the smut chapter was so good too I loved how you wrote the scene the dynamic and chemistry of those two was great there and I wont mind seeing more,, it's okay if you don't write more, I'm happy with what we got, I was just curious fsd

I do have an idea for a specific scene that I'll either throw in LITFL as a bonus chapter, or as a oneshot. [It takes place after Mater takes him back to his house and he has to clean him up because he's a bit scratched up, but it wakes Lightning up and they both get horny all over again lmao]

Funnily enough the part of Living in the Fast Lane that I'm stuck on isn't figuring out the overarching plot and direction of the Falcon/Stewart FWB series anymore the part I am stuck on is now writing more of the actual sex. Because there is so much of it tied to the relationship development that I can't NOT have it lmfao but there are times where I'm like damn guys 🙄 could you bone a little faster and get back to moving along the totally not repressing your feelings part of the plot again
