Agreed. It’s an achievement given the scale of the event and the 200 arrests the day prior. Though definitely needs to not be used as standard of “how to protest” when the contexts of each event are def. important
it’s definitely an achievement and i don’t want to take away from that at all!! i just get tired of all the rallying around the idea of like “see? THIS is how you protest” when the BLM movement has honed in on that form of peaceful protesting for years now and it consistently ends in arrests and/or police violence. because i feel like the subtext then, inherently, is “white people can protest peacefully, black people can’t”, y’know? when that’s bullshit. cops let white people protest peacefully, but historically, cops don’t let black people be black, let alone protest while black.
