As someone who has never played FF7, but is always fascinated by localization trivia, I'm curious about your use of a retranslation mod. Is the western version rough, or is it just a personal preference?

The original English translation is famously pretty rough around the edges, yeah. Tim Rogers did a solid video series exploring the issues with it and some of the reasons why it turned out the way it did

I believe it got fixed somewhat for the original PC release, but the retranslations out there are, in my opinion, generally, of a better quality.

Rank the Foxes alcohol tolerances. Who's the longest weight and can anyone top Kevin?

i feel like i should answer this sober but fuck it

dan - decent tollerance but when she wants to be drunk she starts acting like it before she’s actually drank that much

matt - high tolerance but has a personality of a drunk person like 70% of the time anyways so no one notices when he shifts into actually drunk

renee - she had built up a tolerance but then lost it in the years she didn’t drink so like 2 shots and she’s tapping out lol

allison - she’s a sloppy drunk but it takes like a solid number of shots to get her there. she’s not drinking anyone under the table but its respectable

aaron - pretty high tolerance, but not the highest in the group

andrew - no one’s really sure what his tolerance actually is? (neil knows but he wont tell) it’s pretty fucking high. not as high as kevin but it’s definitely like second or third in the group

neil - mediocre. like he drank when he needed to dull pain so he never built up a tolerance to drinking for fun

nicky - he looks at a pornstar shot and gets tipsy

kevin - well uh how do i put this delicately? he’s an acoholic so his tolerance is super fucking high

nobody surpasses kevin unless they are actively trying.  in which case he gives up out of being board more than anything

What is your opinion on Itsuki doing fairly well in the polls? He's number 18, which is honestly pretty good for a TMS unit in my opinion. Do you think him getting voted so high is good for a future TMS banner?

I’m very happy for him! I definitely want another TMS banner and I think him making the top 20 for men two years in a row is a good sign.

What I can see happening is like, Itsuki, Touma, and Tiki are in the banner and then Yashiro gets added as the GHB, assuming they get proper New Heroes treatment with a story chapter and Forging Bonds and not just a paralogue. I think Touma especially has a good chance of being added during book 5 because, you know, motorcycle, but we’ll see

I see a lot of Critical Roll posts from you, and it's got me very interested in it. I tried in the past, but I remember the beginning being very rough audio wise, and I tend to listen to podcasts while at work. Is there a better starting point? Or an audio log somewhere I could read instead?

so i have never managed to a) finish it (because the episodes are VERY long) or b) listen to it very long as a podcast because they don’t (for obvious reasons - it was never intended as a podcast and they’ve got a lot of other stuff they do) edit out the silences that happen ocassionally, which always makes me really just want to be able to see them.  

but you can probably skip right on ahead to the whitestone arc because I’m pretty sure by then they’d gotten a better tech set up?The episodes are so long I don’t think there are transcripts available anywhere and like i said i’ve never managed to finish the show, so idk man, GOOD LUCK????

Do you watch MBMBAM? I finished TAZ and kinda wanna start listening to it, but I don't know where to start since it's been going on for some time now. Should I start at the beginning? Or is there a better place to start? (I'm not sure if the first few episodes are rocky or not, some podcasts are)

So I do listen to MBMBAM, but not constantly/in order. I can skip some episodes and be fine because it’s not a story. I tried to listen to it from the beginning, but as the Mcelroys themselves have said, they were very different people then. They’ve grown and matured, and have become better and funnier honestly. So I say just listen to what they’re putting out now. Maybe go a hundred or so episodes back if you want a lot to listen to? I don’t have a very good recommended beginning point.But yeah, the newer episodes are better. (Not like the first ones were trash, I liked them just fine and they have some really funny bits, it’s just that you can tell they were different people then and the stuff they make now is better)MBMBAM is easy to listen to randomly since there is no story line, so you could just scroll through the episodes and look at the descriptions for a little summary of what the episodes are about. Pick ones that look funny or interesting to you, haha.
