I have to say Legacy is probably one of the most amateurish books I’ve ever read. I mean how do they have ‘Christmas’ if they don’t have Christianity? Who did not catch that in editing? Seriously?! There is just so much wrong with this book, especially including the main character. She is beyond useless. If the human race were to depend on her, we’d be an extinct species.

Feed is a fast paced joy ride of a read. The novel follows adopted siblings George (named for George Romero) and Shaun (named for Shaun of the dead) who are bloggers following the presidential campaign in a post zombie apocalypse world.
Doesn’t that sound like the best premise ever?
It’s part political thriller, part horror, part smart sci-fi novel. A killer combination – (truly sorry for the awful pun).
The main characters, Shaun and George, are their own brand of fun, the action is brilliant, and – just because she loves us – Grant sticks in blog posts from the characters so we really get to know who they are and what makes them tick. Shaun and George complement on another well. George is a newsie: she’s dedicated to reporting the cold hard facts and has sworn to the tell the truth, the full truth and only the truth so help her God. She is the driving force behind their website: After the End Times. Shaun on the other hand is an Irwin (guess who they’re named after). Irwin’s are thrill seekers. They like to go out and poke zombies with sticks, and do other unsafe things for the entertainment of their viewers.
To round out the group there is their tech wizard Buffy (as she so rightly explains when she meets Shaun and George. She’s blond and she’s cute and living in a world with monsters, what other name could a girl have?) who’s so good at what she does she’s been scouted by every major organization (CIA, FBI, you name them, they want her).
Feed is able to bounce between heartfelt moments and humour. Even though you can find it in the horror section, this book isn’t really scary, more along the lines of a thriller.
So if you have a soft spot for zombies and awesome characters then I suggest you check this book out!
Chelsey’s Review
Project Cain has an interesting premise. Serials killers don’t often feature in teen lit, that’s for sure. And cloning them for government use, well that’s just gosh darn unique, that’s what it is.
I couldn’t resist picking it up, despite the fact that I’m a chicken, only to extremely disappointed.
The author did a great job of making a crazy sounding premise actually plausible, that is one of the things that strongly recommends this book. But it might be the only thing.
Nothing can save this novel from Jeff the Apathetic Serial Killer Clone.
