Looks like I missed a few asks this weekend, but I’ve found them now! yay!How do I feel about Queen?Well, Freddie Mercury was certainly a wonderful vocalist, and a very interesting guy, as well. Probably a bit of an idol for me, in terms of his vocal range and his ability to write a gripping melody.Of course, I love A Night at the Opera - even, and especially the songs that aren’t Bohemian Rhapsody. I think, a long time ago, I made a karaoke type video for “Love of My Life”, which I used to enjoy singing a lot (even though I bombed at it when I sang it at an actual karaoke bar). A couple of years ago, I went through the entire Queen catalogue, to see how I felt about the rest of it, and I was surprised by how few tracks on each album really gripped me. But there was almost always one track that was just really, really good. I made a best of list for my itunes. It’s 41 tracks long.Probably my favourite albums are A Night at the Opera and Queen II, but here are a few tracks that I love:
And of course, the requisite Somebody to Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure etc. Great songs, but they don’t have quite the same emotional attachment as the others (except Under Pressure, which still makes my hair stand on end, all electric like).
