Random GoT/ASOIF Thoughts

So, like, I'm re-reading the Game of Thrones books (A Song of Ice and Fire series) to prep for the final season of the show.

As one does when they're obsessed.

I'm a quarter of the way through A Storm of Swords (my personal favorite) and I'm...so...bitter.

George R. R. Martin gave us a masterpiece love song, "My Featherbed" for Arya and Gendry.

Then, the show gave us an Ed Sheeran cameo in season 7. Ed Sheeran, the go-to guy for kick-ass love songs for years now.

AND THEY DON'T TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO BRING GENDRY TO ARYA AND SAIL MY SHIP?!

So Im Gonna Write A Review For Sun and Moon

Its just not going to be tonight because i HAVE WORDS i need to say about this game and there’ll be a lot of them. Trust me. Theres a hell of a lot to talk about and i need a fresh head on the topic before i start. Most of the review will be under a ‘Read More’ link so it wont clog everyones dash, and so that those that want to still avoid spoilers can~ 

But anyway. For those interested, keep a look out for it tomorrow. :)

I think around christmas time if i have enough money i’m gonna go and grab a copy of Pokemon Sun. That way when i get around to it i can double hunt for shiny Type: Null and i have access to the Sun exclusives if i want to SOS hunt for them as well. Plus if i ever want to do a Nuzlocke at least ill have an extra Gen 7 game lying around to use for it :)

Some Thoughts On The Starters

Alright i want to get something very clear right away- i dont hate any of the starters. Sure, i have a clear number one, two, and three, but that doesn’t necessarily mean i hate the Poke in third. I just like it the least out of the three. Now i know what you’re thinking- ‘oh i already know how this is going to go...’ and you might, but hear me out. I have my reasons for why i like/dislike all three starters. 

Decidueye is easily the best of the three, and my favorite. For one, its a hooded archer that also happens to be an owl- and i have a very soft spot for any pokemon that are based off of owls. Then you take into account that it has a fairly unique typing- correct me if i’m wrong but i believe that the Grass/Ghost typing is shared only by the Trevanant line. It’s design isn't perfect, but it certainly IS creative, so that earns it the top spot. 

Primarina will be my starter choice for personal reasons. Its design is alright, if a bit gaudy. I’m not a fan of how large its fins/flippers are, though thats about it. In terms of just typing, good god is it going to be bulky. Water/Fairy is a tying i’ve used in the past with an Azumarill and it destroyed fucking everything. The fact that Primarina could possibly be a Special version of an Azumarill is a huge plus in my books. 

When the original leaks came out all those months ago, i took one look at Incineroar and thought ‘dear god let this be fake’. Something about it made me instantly dislike it. It could possibly be the fact that i’d initially liked Litten, and wanted a quadruped Fire/Dark starter Pokemon. I think having those hopes dashed with the almost opposite of that being leaked mere months after the games announcement left a sour taste in my mouth that i haven’t yet gotten rid of. But i think after having all this time to mull it over, and learning that Incineroar is Fire/Dark like i hoped it would be helped my opinion on it. Its certainly not the best starter, but its not the worst. My biggest issues with it are the fact that despite being Fire/Dark it still LOOKS like a fighting type, and for lack of a better phrase, ‘Yaoi hands’. Despite this, i feel like similar to Delphox this is a Pokemon i’ll like more over time. I don’t hate it, i just feel like it had so much more potential to be great, and i’m just disappointed with it.  

None of these starters are perfect. I know there will be plenty of people that will disagree with my opinion, and thats fine. Again i dont hate any of them, i’m just kind of disappointed. But despite that i still feel like all three are very unique and special in their own way. It’s obvious that all three have had a lot of thought and research put into them, and in that aspect they shine. I just cant help but feel they’re missing something vital, and i couldn’t tell you what that is. 

But anyway. Enough of my rambling, what do you guys think about the starters?

Fuck i hate it so much when you find a fic thats REALLY FUCKING GOOD and either the story has been put on hiatus or when you go snooping on their profile and find a sequel... only to realize that that one is on permanent hiatus. I guess its a good thing i have a good imagination, if nothing else i can dream up my own happy ending for any unfinished stories. 

Also go read Grounded, its really fucking good.

Can i also mention i think its really fucking great that Animal Crossing New Leaf just got an update thats adding a ridiculous amount of new content? For those that dont know, this game originally came out on November 8th 2012. The game is almost FOUR YEARS OLD, and its still getting content. Nintendo could have just as easily released a New Leaf+ or even an entirely new AC game, but instead opted for a free update. And not only that, but the game was just released as a Nintendo Selects title, making getting a copy for those that hadn’t already even easier on a tight budget. 

And all those Animal Crossing Amiibo cards you’ve been collecting? You can now use them to put any villager who’s card you have into your town. Have the AC Amiibo figures? You can use them too the same way. You want Callie and Marie? Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Wolf Link? GUESS WHAT. YOU CAN HAVE THEM TOO. 

I guess the point i’m getting at is i think its great Nintendo is aiming towards both old and new players, while adding content that appeals to both. THIS is how you build new content. THIS is how you get people to play and love your games all over again. This is perfect and needs to be done more often in video games. 

It’s a good day to be an Animal Crossing fan.
