A Blast From the Past - littlest-death-knight

Syrenniel grumbled to herself as she stepped over the threshold into Dalaran. She tried to make a habit of avoiding major cities or settlements. She made a habit of just avoiding anywhere where there was people. People caused trouble and overcomplicated everything. Especially considering she was a Death Knight. People never quite took too kindly to her.

But alas her runeblade had broken and she liked this sword so she unfortunately had to trudge towards the nearest town to find a Blacksmith to repair her blade. 

She could feel eyes on her as she moved through the city and reached up to pull her hood over her face. This was not pleasant. Nor how Syrenniel wanted to spend her morning. She could be how hunting, or avoiding people.

All she had to do was get to the Blacksmith fix her sword and be done with Dalaran.

Although she was so preoccupied with her internal monologue she'd stopped paying attention to where she was going.

I think that's legit the first time someone said Happy Mother's Day to me (well one of my characters but still). ...That's certainly a new feeling, and I kinda like it. x'D

Draxx and Milanda Go on an Adventure

And several odd things start to happen.

“Draxx, I want to talk to my father.”

  He stepped out of the shadows, looking around that no one was watching or listening in. "Are you sure?"

  "Yes."

  “Okay, I will make a portal. But… let's go somewhere more private. I've got just the a place.”

  Draxx took Milanda to a nearby, nearly inaccessible, cave in the mountains surrounding Dalaran. Milanda moved far more slowly amongst the rocks than Draxx, stumbling and tripping every few steps. “Couldn’t you find a more hard-to-reach place? Fuck.”

  “Probably but this will have to do till then” he smirks a moment nearly laughing “It has to be private, and I think I’m the first to discover this little hole in the wall, [so it's perfect.” He stood Milanda just inside the entrance to the cave before venturing farther inside.] After the portal opens, Draxx, momentarily drained, said, “Arthas, someone wants to see you”

  “Are you insane, Draxx?”

  Milanda held her breath when she heard his voice. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to say all that she had to say.

  “This person, I know you want to see.”

  Draxx's head pops around a corner and he beckons to Milanda. She straightens out her tabard subconsciously before following him. As she rounded the corner, she saw him again, as he had been the last time she had seen him in a portal. The ice that coated him was thick, but as he looked down on her, it broke away, forming a halo around him. He smiled at her.

  The smile broke the dam on her words and feelings. “Father, what in [the Void] were you thinking, keeping me as a weapon to kill my mother? Did you think that torturing me during training would make me want to help you against her? Did you think that would make me love you? And... and when the Nerubians came to me at night you... you never... were there to stop them! You could have! I know you could have! You ruined me! You destroyed me!”

  Arthas took a deep breath, steeling himself, separating himself from his anger again. The frost halo hovered close to him. “I attemped to care for you every time you were in view. I had gone mad. I was in control of my body, yes for the most part, but when it came to you I... I couldn’t do anything. Ner'zhul... the monster that shared... shares, taints... my consciousness, was in control. He was keeping you as a weapon... against me, not just your mother. Always, I tried to get through. There was one time that I came close. When I put you on that dragon, and told you to hold on, it was to get you away from a battle you weren’t ready for. I told you to hold on or I’d kill you. It was supposed to be 'Hold on so you don’t get killed. He made damn sure to twist my every word when it came to you. I was in control of everything... except for when it came to you.

  Draxx fiddled with his daggers a bit in the corner, trying his damnedest not to listen, and failing not to record everything said. He started to whistle softly, enough as to not disturb their conversation.

  The frost halo hung tightly around Arthas as Milanda took a deep breath and continued to speak her mind.

  "Father," she started, "All you are giving me are excuses. Even if you had no control when it came to me, now, when I walk the street, nothing but malicious whispers follow me. I have nothing but a cursed family name. I have no kingdom, no home to go to. My mother is permanently scarred from your actions, though you never left a mark on her. I wanted to join the Argent Crusade, to become a paladin, but the only one who would take me on to teach me was someone who was already undead. You have ruined my chances to have a normal life.

  Arthas opened his mouth to speak, but Milanda cut him off.

  “But, out of all of this… Finally, finally people are starting to see me, not you, when they look at me. They see my face, not yours, and my deeds, not yours. So, I'm not here to be angry with you. I'm here because… because I just wanted to know the father that I never had."

  The frost halo shattered as his jaw dropped in shock. The thought that someone he had hurt more than just about anyone else had let go of their hatred overwhelmed him, and tears streaked down his face as he sobbed. For the first time, he was really, truly speaking to his daughter, and she was speaking to him. "I only wish I could hug you," was barely audible between his sobs.

 Embarrassed he wipes the tears from his eyes and warmth filled his face again.

  Milanda reached for her father, and Draxx stopped whistling. "Don't touch that!!" The portal flickered, then, as Draxx lost all concentration, closed. As the image blinked out of existence, Milanda screamed, and Arthas reached for her.

  "I don't know. I felt like something bit me.. It's not like your mother's magic, Milanda, you can't touch it... Hang on, let me find the stone, and I'll open it again."

  He dug around in his doublet until he found it, but no matter how he tried, the portal wouldn't open.  He dropped the now-warm stone back into its pocket with a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry, Milanda. We'll have to try again another time." He held himself for warmth, rubbing his hands over his arms and shivering. "Besides, I'm cold."

  "You're always cold." Milanda rolled her eyes, knowing that no matter how much he shivers or rubs, he'll not get any warmer. "Come on, let's go home. I'm sure Mom will make you some tea to warm you up."

  As they headed out of the cave, Draxx's steps were heavy and unusually uncertain. The rocks shifting under his feet kept knocking him off-balance, and his unsteadiness concerned Milanda.

Without hesitation, she removed her cloak and slung it around his shoulders. "Should I carry you, too?"

"Ha ha. Very funny."

Hey, I thought I'd come to you, since I can't seem to get through to High King Wrynn, but what do you think of Anduin marrying Milanda? Especially what with the recent developments regarding... them?

Ah... *grins* I wonder what Anduin think were he aware that you thought of me as the second person to go to after his father.

Of all the possible outcomes, I must admit, it sounds like one of the more preferable ones. Xe is of high enough birth to be sure, even if xe is a bastard; xe is capable of carrying children, yet xe is male some of the time, so perhaps Anduin would not gag at the thought of copulating with xir once xe comes of age...

Which exact recent developments are you referring to, though?
