Me: maybe I should try to use less colour in my drawings for a while, take a greyscale approach, try something different.
Also me: Gotta. Draw. HOLLY. BRIGHT RED. BRIGHT GREEN. YES.

It's been a while. I had to take a break - that's okay. About a month ago, on this page, I tried to sketch something, it didn't work, I erased and restarted a few times, and it still didn't work. So I went off and did other things. I had a camping trip to prepare for, I had a house to clean. I had books to read, crochet projects to get done. I had some existential and religious crises to work thru - it's been a while. I don't know if I'm "back" - I really wanted to try and draw every day this year, just see if I could do it, and that's already a failure - but I don't want to just give it all up, I want to get out of the rut I'm still mostly in and keep drawing, because the alternative is depressing. So here's a start: I erased the failed sketch that was on this page, and I covered it in leaves. I used to do this in other sketchbooks, cover up the failed sketches with doodled leaves, just to fill up the page. That is one of the points of this "daily" project: fill up the pages with something, hopefully something pleasing to look at. Drawing patterns is peaceful, meditative, probably something I should try more of. I was getting too serious about my drawing, trying a little too hard. I'm trying to find my groove again, so I won't say I'm "back", but I'm working on it. #littlethings365 #makestuff2018
Cactus (pink-ish.)
(Wanted to get my monthly cacti doodle in, before I forgot. Still trucking thru some things, trying to get my creative spark back.)

Challenge: #drawthisinyourstyle // OP: @amandajtoner // Tag: #amandajtonerredraw ~ I was trying to work on this during my art rut, so there were some thrown pencils happening (I lost the ability to draw shoulders, ffs) but eventually everything clicked together and I'm super pleased with how it turned out :D I really enjoyed drawing the flower tattoos and colouring her hair~ #littlethings365 #makestuff2018

Guys, I'm really proud of this one :D it turned out just how I wanted it to. I know a lot of these style-challenges have waist-up or bust/portrait size characters, but that is my comfort zone, and I wanted to break out of that and do a nice full-body illustration. This also allowed me to throw more roses into the drawing, which I enjoy doing XD
I mean, why have one rose when you can cover a girl in them?

Those tattoos are so elegant and lovely~ and I don't draw nearly enough characters with freckles -- that's one thing I've been loving about these challenges, with each artist there's some new character feature I may not usually draw on my own -- tattoos! nose rings! freckles! glasses!
Why? Why not?! Yes to everything!
