Toilet Paper
I really laughed at how crazy people were getting about certain things at the grocery store when this all happened... toilet paper being one of them. But I get it, fear will do these things.
So recently I realized I was running low on toilet paper... uh oh... lol. I’ll have to go brave those long lines of the morning rush for toilet paper? Seriously?
Sike...
I realized I had more toilet paper in the laundry room (score). For some reason that got me thinking... When am I not thinking?
Mom and Michael used to always buy toilet paper. We were never out of those things: toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap. I of course would offer every time I had to do a Costco run, but they had already got some on one of their many runs to Target.
So now that I’m here and they’re not... I bought toilet paper just before the TP madness ensued. It was on sale and buying things on sale, even though I don’t need them RIGHT NOW, is just how I roll... (I hope that made you giggle a little because I know I did... yes, I laugh at my own cheesy jokes... live a little).
But today, the TP hit me... silly I know... Not in a make me cry type way.. It just hit. A subtle reminder of the past. My life before vs. my life now...
I feel like we are all feeling that sense of before vs. now. I know my family has been living with that feeling the last few years... So many changes... So many events and choices leading us to where we are today. Only now, the world has also been forced into a state of change.
Crazy how the world has changed so rapidly. One minute I’m sitting at a restaurant, ordering drinks with some friends... and the next working from home, looking up the next recipe to try, or ordering takeout more than I’ve ever done in my entire life... Supporting local and all.
I hope it makes everyone grateful for what things were before. The things we took for granted.
The little things... like F-ing toilet paper...
