Antoine knows Dr. Litvenko
He calls Litvenko “Petya.” Which is a Russian diminutive of Piotr, or Peter (Litvenko’s first name).
And Litvenko spoke Russian among others.
And at the time he was born the Ukraine was part of the Soviet Block (having become part of the USSR in 1922; and backwards math shows Litvenko to be born in 1943).
So yeah.
IDK how (but presumably through his research or w/e), but they know each other. And it makes fucking sense.

This just occurred to me on rewatching Hitman: Agent 47.
Katia’s mom is sent to the right as she is shot, which means her killer fired in from the left. When you see tiny!47 running up to the car, he runs in from the right. Therefore, 47 did not shoot Katia’s mom as we had previously believed.
So I am going to propose to you a new and possibly even more angst-ridden theory: 47 was trying to stop the killing because he knew it was going to happen, but he got there too late to be of much help, but he still wanted to make sure Katia was OK.
Now has two attachment points:
1. tiny!47 looks to be about six to eight; tiny!Katia seems about three or 4
2. 47 stated that Katia’s real name is “Quatre-vignt-dix”, rather than just plain old “90″, so I’m thinking maybe that was how she was actually dubbed in the lab and a lot of people just shortened it to “Quatre”, which Katia probably stumbled over when she was found after Litvenko fled (or the other person she was talking to misheard/thought she sneezed/whatever) and we ended up with Katia van Dees
What if Litvenko was kidnapped by the KGB or their predecessors in order to start the Agent Program to better strengthen the Soviet Union, but it kind of took on a life of its own as different allied and satellite parties wanted in and Litvenko wanted out but had no idea what to do?
In this case, he has no choice but to follow their orders (after some ‘persuading’).
While that was going on, 47 and Katia were on his heels planning to break him out and burn the lab he was in to the ground.

AU where instead of slipping Litvenko an explosive/detonator and letting him get captured, 47 picks him up and carries him to safety. (as I type this I'm writing a fic to this effect.)
Okay this is seriously the best thing I have read today.
Considering the emotional battle 47 was having when he saw Litvenko wounded and ordering him to take Katia away to safety and leave him to the wolves.
On one hand, 47 felt that he could finally bring down his vengeance against Litvenko for betraying him and he didn’t even need to finish Litvenko off himself. Just slip in the detonator that is inside the inhaler and he’ll do the job himself.
On the other hand, 47 didn’t want to leave the man who was there for him until the day he left the lab. The man who basically in all intents and purposes became a father to 47.
He decides to bring Litvenko to safety because like hell he’ll leave his ‘father’ alone to the wolves.
Baby 47 messing around with Dr. Litvenko's things while he's trying to work. But Litvenko won't put him down because 47 just. Won't. Allow it. (He also allows pretty much nobody else to pick him up. Just Dr. Litvenko. Nobody's quite sure why...)
I think 47 pretty much can sense Dr. Litvenko’s presence and he likes his presence more cause Litvenko simply radiates warmth and safety.
Not like those cold scientists and mean guards.

Alternative for the dystopian AU: Katia and Litvenko are doing pretty well in this crazy new world, by dint of Litvenko having designed the agents in the first place, until a rival commissions a hit on Katia’s life. A spy gives Litvenko word of this and Litvenko says to her, “Make sure the job goes to 47.”
It happens, but it requires killing the original assassin and assuming the disguise.
