Ever since I played Digimon Time Stranger as well as got into Digimon Beatbreak, causing me to sink back into the hole that is Digimon, I can’t stop thinking of a Digimon and Top Gun Maverick crossover AU
Let me cook here for a bit.
After the whole pulling papers incident and Bradley leaving, Pete who is downtrodden and just trying to move through life finds a DigiEgg on the wing of his plane one day.
He takes care of it and out hatches a Botamon which later evolves into Koromon and then Agumon.
In a way, this Agumon became something of a surrogate/adopted son to Pete and Agumon sees Pete as his father.
Cue to the Darkstar project. I’m setting this a few years earlier than in the movie’s canon timeline. Pete would affectionately treat the experimental jet as if it were a living thing and slowly ‘breathes’ life into it (think of the birth of Guilmon from Tamers).
And then on that last flight, the Darkstar starts to break apart but from it, Velomon is born.
Velomon protects Pete from burning in but at the speed they are going, they break through the wall between the Human and Digital World resulting in a great gravitational force that sucks in all that is digital life forms so Agumon got sucked in.
Cue years later when the humans have found the means to enter the Digital World, the Daggers are sent on a misson and come across a large Digimon settlement.
A settlement with a human chieftain with his two surrogate sons.
Pete alongside Velomon and now Greymon (evolved from Agumon)
