This fabulous article gives the basics for creating a Live Fieldnote process for documenting ethnographic research. I trialed the system while conducting fieldwork in China and Myanmar last year. I had a few hiccups and glitches, but really it gave me greater focus in how to improve my own systems to make it work for me. With my memory issues Live Fieldnotes even if they are only kept for myself are essential for jogging my memory when it comes to writing up my more detailed daily fieldnotes. I don't always have internet access (in fact I rarely have internet access in the field) so I have gotten in the habit of using the notes function on my phone and the phone's camera as my source of Live Fieldnotes rather than Instagram or Twitter. I treat them much the same however. Wouldn't it be wonderful to find some nifty camera app that would let me add notes to my photos like Instagram but didn't require me to be online?
