Carnation Books is Turning One! Let’s celebrate!
On August 29th, Carnation Books will celebrate its first birthday as a company!
As we plan the release of our first charity anthology for Trans Lifeline, as well as the releases of our first original works, we feel there is so much for us to celebrate on this anniversary. So, here’s the plan:
We’re hosting a Live Fic Read-A-Thon on September 1st!
What is it?
Think podfic, but live! Readers will be given up to 15 minutes to read aloud a complete fic or an excerpt, whether it’s something you wrote yourself or something by someone else (with permission, please!). Everyone is welcome - this is a multi fandom event, and no fandom, ship, genre, or style of fic is excluded! Don’t want to read? That’s fine, just join in to listen!

Where is it?

Are there rules?
Only a few! 1) Please limit your reading to a maximum of 15 minutes! We want to allow as many people as possible a chance to read, so keeping the readings relatively short is key. 2) Any rating is welcome! 3) If you are reading fic with warnings, please state them before beginning to read. 4) Please do not read someone else’s fic unless they have given permission for you to do so.
What else should I know?
We plan to give away fandom prizes at random during each hour of the event! If you show up, your name is entered! If you are still in the chat and we draw your name, you win!
This event will be recorded and made available for download as a podcast at a later date. If you do not wish to be included in the recording but still wish to read, simply let us know!
We love fandom and fan fiction more than anything, and we want to celebrate that with all of you, while also celebrating 365 days in business. This milestone is huge for us, but we never would have gotten here without the support of fandom. You have all been so open to talking to us about our mission and goals, many of you have let us feature you here on the blog, sent us asks, joined in on our events, reblogged and retweeted us--the list goes on! From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all.
