Podcasts for and by Black Women
In an update to my last podcast primer, I figured I’d highlight some of the "smaller” podcasts I listen to (i.e., ones that I don’t see shared so much). All three are hosted by black women, focusing on topics as wide-ranging as healthy living, life advice for people of color, and Oprah Winfrey. See below for additional details!
The Food Heaven Podcast (updates: every once in a while)
Registered Dietitians and BFFs. Healthy cooking and other lovely things. Join Wendy and Jess as they work towards making this world a healthier place, one meal at a time. Also check out the Food Heaven Show, the website, and the new (super-cheap) cookbook!
Color Full Lives (limited run)
Join HeyFranHey, Tatiana King Jones, and Angela Yee for a special edition 8-episode 10-episode podcast geared towards people of color looking for advice on how to get started (or advance) on their lives and dream careers, with new episodes added for Black History Month!
Making Oprah (limited run)
In a new WBEZ podcast hosted by Jenn White, Oprah Winfrey tells the behind-the-scenes story of her iconic TV talk show, along with producers, staffers, TV executives, and ratings rival Phil Donahue. The three-part series chronicles the show’s “scrappy” roots in Chicago, its rise to daytime dominance, and the powerful sway Winfrey came to have in American life.
