Writer’s Life
I am very happy and grateful and really enjoying living in Florida. My recent move from New York has really opened new doors of opportunity for me and has served as further inspiration. I am working on my memoir – actually, I started it in New York but I have to edit a few of the chapters. I have been so busy with working as an educator, which I am also absolutely enjoying, and tending to my four year old. Life has been really busy but I intend to sit down and revise those chapters. It is my intention to dedicate more time to my writing as I am happiest when I do that. I get frustrated if I don’t get time to write. The plan is to take two hours after teaching each day to write. I also intend to publish a chapbook of poetry this year and find more outlets for writing and speaking. I pray that more opportunities will come my way.
There are many Writers Resist events being organized across the country for Martin Luther King’s birthday on January 15 and I want to be a part of it. However, all the events are hours from me – even those in Florida. I am going to see if I can host one myself. I will need a venue though. Let’s see what can materialize. Whatever the mind can conceive….
