Family Trees
Jones Family Project is bar and restaurant ideally located between Liverpool Street and Old Street. In such a trendy, creatively inspired area, it fits in perfectly mixing culture and clutter, high end art and graffiti. The concept of the restaurant is to make you smile, from raunchy Star Trek prints, homage to the monopoly board and huge 7ft plus ceramic pots. Each table is decorated individually, from wall hangings to the skeleton frame of beach huts and the occasional trees sprouting up from the table base, leaves drooping down over our heads. One wall was decorated by inviting people via social media to come down and fill with a graffiti mural. They even had a stage downstairs hosting a long dining table with rotating scenery, most recently a hunting lodge, it is now transforming into a 70's spectacular. With bespoke menu offering classics such as cheese and pineapple and Black Forest gateau upgraded for the 2014 palette. The menu offered smoked aubergine purée nibbles, fragrant and perfectly tender red curry spiced crispy squid and charcuterie boards. Steak is their main pulling point, their josper oven giving their meat a subtle charcoal flavour. We loved that a whole section of the menu was dedicated to potatoes. All food and drink has tried to be locally sourced, from the tea and coffee to meat from the Ginger Pig and bread and desserts fresh baked in-house.
