My summer in Colorado is coming to an end and it is both heartbreaking and exhilarating. Knowing that I won’t be back until November when it may be too cold to camp at 10,00 feet, or too snowy to climb up ridge lines, I can’t help but think about how much I am going to miss this place. We packed up camp pretty early from Bearpaw Lake because the early morning cloud coverage didn’t look promising and neither of us wanted to hike 4 miles in the rain. So happy we did because we got to hike around the lake at 6am and see this reflection. We passed a ranger who told us about an old dance hall that used to be right here too. I have such a love/hate relationship with backpacking but I’ve really enjoyed pushing myself to do it more often this summer. I had planned to head out to Crested Butte this weekend and I made it as far as Evergreen before I turned around and headed back into the city.
