You know what I really hate to see? I hate to see today's youth losing their innocence. My definition of youth may be different than yours. Youth to me is anyone under 21. I hate to see young people drinking until they blackout. I hate seeing young people doing drugs. I hate to see young people giving away their virginity to someone that may seem special right then, but probably won't be once you cut them off from the goods. I hate to see young people complain about how they 'haven't gotten any in x amount of months' like it's the only thing in their life that matters. These are things that many people of my generation are doing, and frankly, these things are completely taking over their lives. The young people of today are approaching these things too early; they still have so much of their young lives to live. There are plenty of things we can do in middle and high school and even college that we won't get the chance to do once we sell our souls to the working world. Doing drugs and drinking ruin a lot of these chances. Having sex is a whole other beast. More times than not, people who have sex with someone they don't love or have sex before they have a steady relationship with someone (such as engagement or marriage) tend to regret not waiting. Too many teen pregnancies have been occurring in this day and age, and many teens are realizing that once they have a child, their life is all for that child. There are plenty of things they can still do, but at the end of the day, many of the things they want to do, they can't, because baby comes first. Now, I know I'm not totally free of blame from some of these things, but everything I've done, I regret. It could have waited. So please, lovely young people, please. Don't throw away your youth too soon. Join the marching band. Learn a new instrument. Join Drama Club. Play a sport. Knit, sew, help the elderly cross the street. Do something you love. You have so much more time in your life to party, and drink, and have sex. These are the best years of your life, and they have so much to offer. Don't lose them; you will regret it. The years really do fly by.
