I just read “The Failed Men” by Brian Aldiss, about people in the future who tried to evolve into higher beings but made a disaster of themselves instead and buried the remaining few of themselves across the world. The description:

One of my favorite FromSoftware DLCs is Bloodborne: The Old Hunters.

Personally, I loved this expansion for the game, delving into Yharnam's past and uncovering the darkest and most gruesome secrets of Byrgenwerth, in another plane of a nightmarish setting where hunters are cursed into their own personal hell.

i hated this boss at first, but that moment where they manage to summon meteors from outer space, along with the incredible ost, was so breathtaking i just couldn't be mad anymore.
