Dear Students,

Here are some pictures from the last Saturday Science drawing jam at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Drawing Niche is set up so kids can make short video recordings of their hands while they draw.  It was designed by Lynda Barry and Liz Kozik who fabricated and built it.

The thing that always surprises and delights me is how kids will spontaneously start drawing together if you set out paper and markers.

I believe with all my heart that drawing is a powerful and unsuspected means of communication that is of vital importance right now.
