“Perfect.” Mai hums, eyes sliding over Suki. “Something that drapes.”
“Of course,” Suki agrees, sipping her mimosa, tongue sliding slowly over her bottom lip. “Something that highlights everyone’s—assets.”
“Exactly,” Mai purrs, leaning back in her chair and cross one long, leanly muscled leg, the slit of her skirt sliding open.
“For colors I was thinking greens,” Suki murmurs, leaning in to rest her elbows against the table, her low-cut top…doing low-cut things.
“I was thinking black." Mai wraps her tongue around the words like she's savoring them, which isn't something Sokka realizes a person could do, her eyes half-lidded with something like challenge.
Sokka…wonders if he should just leave. “I mean. I like blue,” he offers.
“And red,” Zuko puts in like everyone doesn’t know, “red is also—”
“A deep emerald, then,” Suki hums, tossing back her hair. “With gold jewelry.”
“A halter top design, I think,” Mai says, Sokka glancing down at his own chest then at Zuko’s before following her gaze to Suki’s.
“Those sets with cropped tops and skirts are a great option,” Suki agrees, staring at Mai’s bared midriff.
“Uh,” Zuko says.
“With a slit,” Suki adds, a little bit breathy. “To mid thigh?”
“To the hip,” Mai says, lips curling, sound like she’s pleased.
“I mean.” Sokka exchanges a glance with Zuko. “I want everyone to be comfortable, obviously. But Katara’s going to be like seven months pregnant, and it’s going to be November, so I’m not sure if midriff-baring halter sets—”
Suki huffs and gives Sokka’s empty Bloody Mary a pointed look. “Obviously she can wear whatever she wants.”
“That’s not the point,” Mai agrees with a frown, recrossing her long, long legs.
“Well,” Zuko says slowly, carefully, “it is our wedding. So it kind of is.”
Suki rolls her eyes. “This is girl talk, Zuko.”
“So leave,” Mai says so bluntly Sokka coughs on his water a little. “The girls have more talking to do,” she adds, purring and low as she turns back to Suki, which….well. Sokka and Zuko exchange a glance. This isn’t quite what he meant when he said he wanted to make sure the respective sides of their wedding party had a fun time together…
11: What scene are you most hyped for this chapter/fic?
I already answered this one, but I also had another think about it for the whole fic - but they are all too spoilery 😂 I am super hyped for some of them through!
15: In as vague of terms as possible (to avoid spoiling), how do you anticipate this chapter/fic to end?
I know exactly how this chapter will end as I have already drafted it (I write the different POV's out of order sometimes) It will end with a fairly important Azula scene :)
The fic itself... I'm not sure how to sum that up 😂 some aspects are still quite nebulous, but other things are very clear.
About to make big spoon Zuko angsty: Zuko HAS to sleep lemur clinging to Sokka because all the people important to him that he's lost have just slipped away in the night while he wasn't there/couldn't hold onto them. He has to feel the weight of Sokka in his arms to remind himself this is real, this is his, and it isn't going anywhere.
Oh man the Lightning Redirection is going to have the BEST payoff :D
Definitely watch Zuko's firebending from here on out though, you might spot him incorporating other styles into his technique!
Nooo I am in denial that Zuko ever has to use that technique, don't say that!
In all seriousness, I have a bad feeling about that. It's gonna be either Azula or Ozai (I'm guessing he can bend lightning? That seems like the type of thing he could do and he's probably the one who taught Azula) and neither one of those situations is!! GOOD!
I WILL be on the lookout for that!! Zuko, bud, you're gonna do great things.
My eyes keep being drawn to the rug in the indigo bloods' car and all the texture in it. Was there a design you either found particularly enjoyable or challenging?
Ahaha thanks! that rug was honestly pretty fun. I only did a few textures swatches for it tbh and then over layed and transformed them in various patterns, overlaps and perspectives to create a full rug. Edited it it a little by hand as an overall piece by piece once I was done in order to make it seamless, but that’s how it was made!
My amazing work partner, Gina, did the overall design for that weird lusus rug and I knew I was going to have fun with its final render.
The most difficult final design in the game for me was probably just figuring out the best way to layer the drone puppet for its final build from its original sketch. Unlike the clown door and the earth portal, it’s a “living creature” type of design so it required a lot more careful thought for how to lay it out.
One sided limerence; the feeling of being stabbed through the heart then reborn in fire from nothing more than a glance.
I don’t think I got it quite right, exactly; the way you describe it sounds much sadder than it does in this here, but I think the way First Light by Lindsey Stirling builds up works pretty well for that last bit about being reborn from how much you love someone.
