The very first thing he noticed was the Birkin. Finally, someone worth paying attention to - and then the jewellery, the dress, the mask - and then there was almost a sigh as he remembered he had been directed to look beyond the superficial appearance. He held it in, and instead James gave the stranger a curious little smile. He had already done several now, so he supposed it couldn’t be that hard to... make an acquaintance out of the stranger and find something worthy of praise. “Lovely mask, darling,” James commented, easily. It didn’t count, but it was a gorgeous mask. “This party is rather dull, though, don’t you think? I would honestly rather be out getting candy with first-graders.”
