well so no one kill me for this. but ive read 2 other shannon hale books outside of the eah ones and one very important thing all her endgame pairings do is make each other laugh. SO IM NOT SAYING SHE GAVE ENDGAME TREATMENT TO LIZZIEDARING WHEN SHE WAS ALLOWED TO WRITE THEM. BUT IM ALSO NOT NOT SAYING THAT.

feeling emotional abt lizziedaring bc lizzie spends most of her time in eah feeling like she doesn’t belong and like she’s too difficult for everyone to understand but daring’s always just like u r the funniest person i know. it is very nice to see you

going crazy thinking ab the fact that there might be a time where lizzie thinks daring will get bored of her once she reciprocates his feelings and all the kindess hes shown her so far is only to gain her affection and once he has it he’ll move on to the next girl…. going crazy thinking about how daring probably doesnt realize it, but it creeps up on him, the fact that he looks forward to seeing her when they share classes and feels mopey on the days when they don’t. the fact that he gets a little jealous the wonderlandians get to know lizzie in a way he probably never will. going crazy about their first meeting being so indicative of their relationship to one another: daring, show-boaty, and well-practised in the art of flattery and lizzie, blunt and straightforward and herself. and a laugh escapes daring and it surprises him too. and thats the thing, is that lizzie thinks daring has an agenda and a goal treating her so kindly, and that’s daring alright, always the showman, always the quintessential prince. but like their first meeting, daring doesn’t expect to find her so funny, to not mind her mean quips and snotty disposition. lizzie thinks he’s doing it for himself, but daring is doing it entirely in spite of himself. going crazy thinking about lizzie keeping her heart cautious and far away, while daring’s is spilling over itself.

lizziedaring is about so many things u guys dont get it. its about a lizzie feeling lonely but never wanting to show it bc she was taught not to, it's about lizzie wanting friends but not knowing how to make any, it's about lizzie asking people if they can talk like pirates just so she'd feel a bit more comfortable calling them friends, and daring being the most accommodating person towards this request. it's about lizzie who is seen as aloof, lizzie who is seen as scary, lizzie who yells a lot and threatens to behead people. and lizzie who makes daring laugh. not because he doesn't take her seriously (lizzie says "off with his head" and daring's the first person with his sword out), but bc lizzie is genuinely hilarious and who else is daring but someone who wholeheartedly wears his heart on his sleeve. daring can be annoying and hes not for everyone but he matches lizzie well bc hes got enough confidence in himself that he doesn't take her quips and insults to heart. he's also just got a level of harmless persistence that goes well when lizzie goes a bit distant. if daring stopped approaching her at all lizzie would in no way become friends with him, she struggles even to open up to the wonderlandians, much more to anyone else. but he approaches her, shares music with her, speaks like a pirate for her. MOST POPULAR GUY IN EAH. HALF THE SCHOOL IS IN LOVE WITH HIM. AND THE PERSON WHO MAKES HIM LAUGH THE MOST IS SOME OUTSIDER FROM WONDERLAND (AFFECTIONATE). and lastly i also think itd be good for daring to have friendships with people who don't see him as THEEE daring charming but just. daring charming. the guy from the musical with a nice smile. lizzie isn't overly impressed with him in the beginning, which makes their friendship that much more genuine. she doesn't see him with rose-colored glasses, and any affection she feels for him after she gets to know him is simply bc hes proven himself worthy of that affection. neither of them expect to like one another or get along (daring opened his mouth and seemed surprised when a chuckle escaped it!!!!!) but they do. they just do.
