The weather wasn’t at its best but Jongsuk just needed a breather, so he had taken the subway to the beach. He found himself walking on the sand, shoes in one hand enjoying the colour of the sunset that was now taking over the whole sky. He closed his eyes as he walked past the sea, listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore, but then hearing a high pitched scream.
He quickly turned his attention to where the noise came from and saw a girl and a tall, slightly creepy man standing near each other. Quickly running over he noticed from the girl’s scared voice that they couldn’t have been friends and Jongsuk walked up to the man “Hey man, just walk away and leave the girl alone.” Thankful that he was much taller than him and that he could be quite intimidating when he wanted to be.
When Minah decided to drive out to the coast to escape all the stress that had been building up for the past three weeks, she felt a sudden weight being lifted off her shoulders. She settled in the parking lot near an almost deserted beach. She turned off her engine and took out her favorite notebook and pen to write in. Soft music played through her speakers, and she could hear the faint sound of the waves rolling into the shore. It was soothing, and Minah couldn't help but smile as she began to write lyrics to some music she came up with during one of her dreamless nights.
After spending more than an hour writing in her notebook, she stepped out of her car and stretched her cramped limbs. She froze when she heard some bustling behind her before she turned to see a man who looked a little older than her and was grinning ear to ear as he waved to her. Minah instinctively took a step back as the man came close to her and grabbed her wrist. Adrenaline rushing, she didn't pay attention to what he was saying and paid attention to the way his other arm slithered around her waist.
Minah never liked the idea of being weak, or having to rely on someone else. She was naturally an independent person who was sometimes too stubborn to ask for help from anyone. She figured it was both a good and bad trait of hers, but she never tried to change how she was. She, however, knew that she wasn't strong enough to fend off this man who crept his hand up and down her back. Before she could scream for help though, she heard a masculine voice cry out and her body being gently pulled away from the man.
"Hey! Don't touch her like that!" She heard the voice nearly growl, something venomous in his voice. "Leave the girl alone, and get the hell out of here!"
Minah watched as the man stood rigid in his spot before he quickly turned and ran away. She let out a relieved sigh and glanced up at the person who had just saved her. She had never seen the man before. He was about a head or so taller than her with very pale skin. When he looked down at her, she saw concern etched in his brown orbs and instinctively averted her gaze.
"Thank you for doing that." She smiled and bowed. "I'm Minah, by the way. Is there any way I can repay you for helping me?"
"I think I'll just leave you two to yourselves."
"Me and him? He was just about to leave... right?"
"Right. See you later, Minah."
She watched the other man closing the door, leaving Minah alone with Jongsuk. She felt a bit awkward, because she knew there was nothing going on with her and the guy who just left; but at the same time, why would Jongsuk care about that?
"I, um-- he's a friend of mine who I've been friends with like forever. You didn't interrupt anything, we see each other all the time so it's fine, really", she nodded and took a few steps back. "But it's nice to see you, um, wanna get something to drink? I have coffee but if you don't wanna drink coffee I can give you water or something else--"
