A curious fact related to this story of St. Collen defeating an evil giantess in the Clwyd valley is that nearby in Llangollen, the parish settlement of the eponymous saint, there was once a monument located there called Croes Gwenhwyfar:

What drives this even more disturbing to me is that Llangollen - which is also the location of Dinas Bran, another folkloric location - isn't far from Oswestry, which was the site of an Iron age hillfort settlement that in local folklore is called Caer Gogfran and is said to be the birthplace of Gwenhwyfar. If I had a nickel for every time I found a disturbing implication from British Folklore regarding a certain Arthurian giantess, I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's weird and disturbing I found them.

Hopefully, it's just coincidence and I'm just being crazy... right?
