Why did you make Cherubi suck the little ball dry when it evolves? I always thought the ball just fell off and possibly turned into another Cherubi (if it didn’t get eaten by bird Pokémon).
Unfortunately, this one was not up to me, Cherubi “sucking the little ball dry” is canon, per several Pokédex entries:
Diamond/Brilliant Diamond: "The small ball holds the nutrients needed for evolution. Apparently, it is very sweet and tasty." Pearl/X/Omega Ruby: "Sunlight colors it red. When the small ball is drained of nutrients, it shrivels to herald evolution." Heart Gold/Soul Silver/Y/Alpha Sapphire: "It evolves by sucking the energy out of the small ball where it had been storing nutrients." Shiny Pearl: "Sunlight colors it red. When the small ball is drained of nutrients and shriveled, evolution is near."
(I posted that line before Legends: Arceus was released, but while that dex entry is a little more vague:
"Once the fruit growing alongside the main body is large and plump, Cherubi will use the nutrients within to evolve. The fruit then detaches, becoming nourishment for other creatures."
I think in the context of the other entries it's implying that the fruit detaches after it's shriveled and depleted and that other Pokémon eat that.)
This was actually really upsetting to me, because when I first started working on that line, I made the little ball drop off and start growing into a new Cherubi (and it was really cute!), but then I checked the dex entries, which I usually do before starting, and was very disappointed at the pivot I had to make. Unfortunate :(
