It's so sweet how in various imaginings fans have depicted c!Bdubs in Double Life as at least partially regretful and guilty for the murdering of his beloved soulmate.

However, this inadvertently heightens the ridiculous hilarity of canon Bdubs being constantly, horrifically oblivious to his repeated wrongdoing while Impulse silently seethes with both hatred and fondness in the background

Jimmy is sent to the capital by his noble family’s home in the countryside to win favor at court, as Prince Grian has been known to have an interest in pretty men, gathering a group of successful and attractive men around him with rumors of relationships between some of them. Jimmy isn’t needed for succession, his sister is being trained for that role, but he was essentially told not to come back unless he managed to catch the eye of the prince.

While he doesn’t manage to meet the Prince, he does manage to meet Martyn, a lord’s son who he later learns is next in line to become the Royal Enchanter, a well known magical position at court.

Martyn later introduces him to his fiance, Mumbo, who Jimmy is impressed to find out is a redstone genius. Jimmy does end up feeling slightly badly about the fact that he had begun to crush on an engaged man, but eventually gets over it when he sees just how much Mumbo and Martyn adore one another.

That’s when he meets Impulse, the heir to a large trading company. Impulse is funny and has so many stories from traveling to make business deals that Jimmy quickly finds himself falling for him. It’s only when Impulse asks Jimmy to help him sneak out to the gardens to meet his lover, G, that the countryside noble realizes he has once again fallen for a taken man.

And again, he really can’t feel jealous, not when he meets G and sees just how excited the man is to be with Impulse. Not when G smiles at him like he knows some great secret and makes Jimmy feel like someone important. Not when Jimmy realizes that he somehow wishes that these men in the capital had more space in their hearts.

When Jimmy gets a formal invitation for a courtship from Prince Grian, he’s shocked. He’s never met the man, how could the prince have interest in him? Accepting the invitation is a foregone conclusion. It’s not just family expectation, it’s the next best thing if he can’t love any of his crushes the way he wishes he could.

Jimmy could never have expected that walking into the prince’s receiving room would mean G sitting in finery with Mumbo and Impulse to each side of him, Martyn barely any further away where he holds Mumbo’s hand.

The invitation suddenly means something very different. Maybe now he can love them all. And maybe he did catch the prince’s attention after all.

Impulse's 3rd episode of Limited Life is the essence of why the Boogeyman is such a cool mechanic. It allows the player to act in ways they normally couldn't and gives so much to improvisation/acting potential.

. That immediate realisation and switch from normal, helpful characterisation to sudden bloodlust after the Boogey is revealed

. Impulse debating murdering Etho when his back was turned and fighting to rein it in

. Fear when Skizz died mixed with the dilemma of claiming the kill, knowing that Skizz would lose EVEN more time.

. When Imp and Skizz laughed at Tango building the tower wrong, and the slight, chilling change in Impulse's laugh from jokey to frantic and haunted

. Tango pulling his shield up and remaining guarded when Impulse shakily reveals that he's the Boogeyman

. Skizz's panic and realisation when Impulse starts placing tnt, unusually calm, turning to Skizz with a carefully innocent and blank expression as people die below

. Urging Skizz to be implicated in the destruction

. Spotting Pearl running to confront them, and acting like Skizz was the danger to lead her in, warning her that 'it's not safe here'

. Relief after getting a kill, while slightly regretting about making an enemy

. Sidling up to Pearl later, faux-remorseful, claiming that he was possessed and that it wasn't really him in control

like he seems to do EVERY bloody time
