The next day you woke up with loud knocking on your door. Frowning, you got up from your seat, where you were comfortably working with your notebook - perks of working at home - and headed to the door, wondering if it was SeokJin, from which you haven't heard since the day before. He must have realized his clothes were still here. You snickered, recalling that the previous morning he had left only in Yoongi's sweatpants, which he also said he would return. Either way, you took the plastic bag with his stuff on your way to the door, from where came more hurried knocks. Why is he in such a hurry?
"I'm here already! " You said as you unlocked the door, opening it with a little annoyance and about to scold the man, but your frown completely fell from your face as you realized that the person at the other side wasn't SeokJin at all.
“Hm, good morning... May I help you?” You asked to Hyuna, which stood in front of you looking like a mess - hair disheveled, bloodshot eyes and pale, almost greenish skin -, and stared at your face with an irritated expression on.
“Don't ‘may I help you’ me, you bitch!” She shouted, and was the last thing you heard as her palm connected with your cheek, a resonating slap stinging your face.
Did she just... Slapped me? You asked yourself, hand reaching in shock to the affected area, which still didn't hurt, but from the temperature of it, you guessed it was already red. Everything was moving in slow motion for some seconds. It had been a while to experience that kind of violence from someone - even to a intimate degree, which was the case with your ex-boyfriend -, and it shocked you so much you didn't even knew how to respond, or move for that matter.
Looking up at SeokJin's ex-girlfriend, you gaped, and must have mumbled at her, probably asking what was that for, to which she scoffed, and started screaming something along the lines of sucker whore, and you may have tried to deny. Her hand flew to your other cheek this time, and that time you felt as her well-manicured nails scratched your skin, and winced as you tumbled to the ground.
"You still have the courage to lie to my face, you slut? You surely are pathetic, taking advantage of a situation to sleep with a drunk man! He fucked you out of sadness and pity! How can you even look at y-” Hyuna's loud speech was interrupted by a livid SeokJin, which happened to have just opened the door to his apartment, to check the noise outside.
"Hyuna what are you doing?! Did you just hit Y/N?" He pushed the woman's hovering figure away from you, and only then your focus came back, as his arms surrounded you, making you panic slightly and push him away weakly.
"Jin, please listen to me, I made a mistake! I'm so sorry!" Hyuna's voice became soft in a millisecond, her tone sweet and sad and tinged with regret, which would make you realize later - when you regained your calm and reason - that she was actually a mad woman. But surely it seemed like only you had hear her pleas, since SeokJin was more worried about putting you back in your feet.
"Are you okay, Y/N? Shit you're hurt..." Putting himself in front of your face, completely blocking his ex's body, warm hands on your cheeks as his eyes raked your injuries. But you could still hear her, tone increasing again as she noticed SeokJin wasn't paying her any attention.
"I-I'm okay... Here this is yo-ours" You stammered incoherently, handing him the plastic bag with his clothes, still trying to get away from his hands, even though they actually eased you. Your neighbor frowned, eyes trailing to the bag then staring at your eyes, and maybe the realization that you weren't on your clear mind hit him, since he nodded slowly to himself.
"Let's go to mine's. I'll take care of you." He muttered, turning your stiff body sideways, reaching behind you to close your door and, with his body still shielding you from Hyuna - which had started to scream and cry all over again, pulling at SeokJin's sleeve, but he didn't even seemed to budge - he walked you to his place, opening the door. You felt small and vulnerable at that time, but also warm feeling his arms around you protectively. But it soon ended, since Hyuna finally tugged at the man with enough force to make SeokJin tumble.
"You better let me go! I told you I don't want to see you ever again, and yet you come here and attack someone who's got nothing to do with this? Are you actually insane?!" SeokJin shouted, freeing his arm from her grasp and you flinched at his hard, angry tone. You had an idea it wasn't directed at you, but it still made you cover your ears, scared. Why is this happening?
The both of them discussed for some minutes, SeokJin's voice back to a normal level, while Hyuna's was still screaming, begging please for SeokJin to forgive her. He had already gave his decision, and even had threatened Hyuna with suing her for aggression and peace disturbance if she didn't left, but then the woman snatched her last card, and suddenly everything was quiet. It took you a while to process what she had just said, as you turned to look at SeokJin's expression.
"I'm pregnant with your baby!" Hyuna repeated, face red and distressed voice, finally at a bearable level. Your neighbor just stood there like a statue, staring at her like his ex had just grown two heads in that second. In the back of your mind you knew that changed everything, and watched as your neighbor's face turned pale with the statement. Your cheeks flared at that point, the pain at its full awakening, left cheek aching with the scratches, but it didn't mattered at that point, since you were too focused on watching SeokJin's expressions. I need to go back to my home.
"No Y/N, stay." SeokJin seemed to have noticed your small movements - or maybe you had mumbled your thoughts, in your shock -, eyes soft as he turned to look at you. But that expression changed when he glanced back at Hyuna, a glare taking place. "We will see that. I don't believe you, Hyuna, and I have all the reasons to. Still, if the baby is mine, doesn't mean I'll take you back. I will take responsibility for my child, but won't get back to someone who I can't thrust even with my eyes open. Now leave, before I really call the police this time.” Said, a new kind of rage on his voice, making it so low your knees went weak. She widened her eyes, but before she could even try to say anything, he closed the door quickly, muffling her cries.
SeokJin turned to you, and apologized for what had just happened, reaching to touch your face one more time, but for some reason your body wasn't reacting correctly still, and even after you realized you were safe - or because of that, and due the sudden stress -, your body started trembling badly. Your neighbor tried to ask you what was happening, but right there and then you felt your conscience suddenly slip, and you closed your eyes, embracing the darkness.
You opened your eyes and stared at the ceiling before you, wondering when did you painted it light blue. Oh right, I'm not in my house. You remembered, the realization making you jolt up from wherever you were laying.
"Hey, easy there. You took a bad hit on your head." SeokJin's soft voice came before you could see him, and his hand startled you, as it pushed your shoulder back down, leaning you on the couch.
"Uh what? When?" You asked, mind fuzzy as your eyes focused on the face in front of you, observing his apologetic smile - and whoa, you had forgotten how handsome SeokJin was. I mean, I know he's pretty, but up close... You thought, as he placed a glass of water on your other hand.
"About Hyuna earlier... You passed out after she left, maybe it was the shock. I couldn't catch you on time and you hit your head, got me worried a lot, miss." He explained, and yes, everything was going back at you again. Hyuna slapped me, SeokJin came to save me and I passed out on his floor. I'm such a mess. You thought, wincing as your hand came in contact with the bump in your head, and SeokJin reached for you, pursing his lips a bit.
“How long I passed out?" You asked, looking up at him, as he also handed you a pill, which you understood it was to the pain throbbing in your head.
"About two hours. I think it's better if you go to the hospital, since you could have got a concussion. I can drive you, if you want." He proposed, and you shook your head no, once you gulped the medicine. You had aversion to doctors, the smell of rubbing alcohol made you sick, and needles would only make you pass out again.
"No, I'll be fine. I guess I just need some coffee and an ice packet, and I'll be fine." You tried to get up again, only to have a scoffing SeokJin pushing your shoulders back down one more time.
"Okay, but then you may as well be here, so I can watch over you. Only for this day, promise I'm not kidnapping you." Sweetly smiling towards you he proposed. But for some reason you knew that same smile didn't allowed questioning, so you just nodded back at him, accepting his proposal. SeokJin beamed at you, letting go of your arms. "Great! Now wait here, I'll bring you an ice packet." Getting up, he quickly walked to his kitchen. You sighed slowly, left alone for a while.
You felt a little bit off still - passing out was weird and made your stomach churn -, but took the time to access your surroundings. It was the first time you entered SeokJin's house, and thought it was the same as your apartment, the design was different.
The walls of the living room were light blue, and for some reason you thought it was SeokJin's color, it matched him and his personality - or the little you knew about it - perfectly. The couch you were sat in was beige, and the fluffy rug you had your feet on matched the walls with its dark-blue color, and it extended in a circle till the coffee table, where sat a glass picture frame, with a photo of SeokJin and Hyuna, and you vaguely guessed it could be from the last Christmas, since there were winter clothes and fairy lights. He must have forgotten about this one. You thought, observing their smiles as they posed beside each other, big smiles on their faces. They were such a gorgeous couple, but Hyuna had done him so bad that just look good together wouldn't fix it.
From what I recall the other day, he said she had been on the affair for six months. And now Hyuna claims to be pregnant. While I know I shouldn't meddle with that, I know too that there's no way SeokJin can trust the paternity of that baby - the child has no fault on this after all -, and it puts him in a tough spot. I'm not sure of what should I do, if give him my support or just leave him alone, to not give him more trouble.
"Here, I brought this too, to take care of the scratches. It isn't so bad, but it's better to put something and avoid scarring." SeokJin came back, voice never faltering even when he noticed the photo in your hands, which you had picked up absentmindedly. You felt yourself blushing, and placed the object back at its place, lips pressed apologetically in a tight line.
"You didn't needed to... I'm giving you so much trouble, Jin." you muttered, receiving the cold packet cautiously and pressing it to your cheek. He chuckled, sitting down beside you, shaking his head as he moved your hand to the back of your head, where the bump laid.
"Nah, trouble is what I'm giving you. I'm the one who should be apologizing, because if I hadn't crashed at your house this wouldn't have happened to you... Don't even try to tell me otherwise." SeokJin warned, looking pointedly at you when you were about to open your mouth to say it wasn't his fault. Smiling sheepishly you looked down, causing the man to chuckle again, reaching for your face.
You didn't knew where to look as he cleaned the cuts on your face, even if he wasn't so close to it. But you also didn't wanted to stare at him - even if his focused expression was so cute and at the same time so... Attractive -, because it was already awkward enough he had just caught you staring at a picture of him and his now ex-girlfriend... Yet your eyes didn't seemed to want to obey, as you caught them glancing at his features, marveling about the softness of his skin, his cute nose scrunching as he concentrated on a spot of your face - he was being so delicate you didn't even felt his fingers on your cheeks - and his lips, the pump pink flesh getting more flushed as he bit them in concentration...
"Now, I know I'm handsome, but you've been staring at my face for so long I'm beginning to think there's something on it." SeokJin muttered as your eyes snatched themselves away from his face one more time, only to snap back to him, as your body stiffed. He wasn't looking at you as soon as he said that, finishing to put a plaster on top of each scratch, but then he turned to you, a smile rippling on his lips. You could feel the blush running to your face, but also couldn't help yourself and laughed at his cheesiness, which actually coaxed him to laugh, embarrassed with what he had said. "Okay I'm sorry... I feel so awkward about this whole situation that I keep doing those stupid jokes." He said, running a hand through his face.
"It's okay, you're actually funny. And well, handsome too... " You trailed off almost absentmindedly, realizing seconds later what you have said out loud. “Ah shit I “ You cursed, feeling your cheeks redden, looking up at him, hoping he didn't paid any mind of what you've said. But you found yourself startled to see SeokJin blushing profusely too. His ears are red!
"T-thank you I guess, even thought I was kidding..." Said, looking away and partially hiding his face with one of his hand. It almost made you fall in another fit of giggles. Apparently he can't take compliments, huh? You snickered. After that awkward situation, SeokJin tried to make you as comfortable as he could.
"So, do you want me to pick anything from your house? " Jin asked suddenly, right after dinner. You tilted your head at him, wondering why would he even ask something like that. I mean... I live literally next door... You wondered, and SeokJin must have noticed your confusion, scoffing.
“Look, I don't want to sound creepy, but that was the smoothest way I could imply that you will be staying here today." Explained, then hesitated, observing as your eyes widened gradually. “Well I guess there's no way I can tell this without sounding stupidly weird... But understand Y/N, it's imperative you stay here... Because I know Hyuna will come back for you. I wish I didn't knew this, but that kind of behaviour of hers happened before. Besides, there's still the hit you took on your head. I read it is important to watch someone on those cases because of the danger of a concussion...” He trailed off, sighing a little upset, glancing to the floor. You took some seconds to process the whole thing, settling on nodding slowly at him.
"Then I guess I'll have to stay, since you're going to be my knight in shiny armor...” You decided to joke, since he looked so uncomfortable with the whole situation. Well I guess everyone has a dark side, after all. SeokJin's head snapped up, and he looked astonished at your soft grin towards him. It wouldn't be good to just leave, you knew you didn't had anything to do and had been just a person on the wrong place at the wrong time, kinda... But he didn't deserve that, and needed a friend at the moment. It's going to be some tough months...
"You're so cheesy, I like you.” Muttered, snickering at your remark while shaking his head. Your eyes widened, even thought you knew he didn't meant it like that, but was shocking to hear it anyways. Like he noticed his slip, he cleared his throat, hands running through his hair. "Anyways, I'm going to buy groceries... Do you want anything special for lunch?" He asked, and you hummed, deciding also on not dwelling about that matter of him cooking for you - well, since you had a taste of his food the other day, you had low-key became addicted -, and shrugged.
"Whatever you choose, I'm not picky."
“Great choice, I'll then learn how to make ‘whatever’ Joked, and you only chuckled because he was laughing at his own joke, and that sound was hilarious to you.
When SeokJin came back, you were comfortably seated on the kitchen counter, sipping on warm chocolate milk from a big cow-themed mug, that made you laugh for at least five minutes after he showed the piece.
“I recall leaving you on the sofa, surrounded by pillows and such, what exactly are you doing here?” As he frowned playfully, and you shrugged, the feeling of being completely at home with his arrival being completely ignored for the moment. I barely know this man. You reminded yourself. I got to stop making the same mistakes over and over.
“I got bored, and got curious to know if you had more interesting stuff like this in your kitchen.” You said, smiling softly as you motoned with your chin at the mug. He snorted, placing the - rather numerous, you didn’t failed to notice - grocery bags with ease in the counter in front of you.
"Well, I did left you locked up here, I feel bad for that, so I’m really sorry." Jin started, but you waved a hand at him dismissively. “I talked with the doorman downstairs and told him that Hyuna wasn’t to be let up without me agreeing to it, so you’re now pretty much safe to go to your own place, if you want.” You couldn’t help but feel a little pang on your heart hearing the sad undertone on his voice.
"That’s nice, but I was here thinking... I lent you my sofa so you could lay your drunk ass self for a whole night and you ate my food, so... You’re not getting rid of me that easily today, at least not until I have dinner." Deciding better to joke, he lifted his eyes at your smiling face and released a soft snicker, leaning on the sink right beside you.
“I knew that once you tasted my cooking you wouldn’t leave me alone anymore. " The forced cockiness made you bark a laugh, and you would have fallen from the stool you were sat in, wasn’t for SeokJin’s quick reflexes, hands coming to steady your hips firmly, as he laughed at his own silliness. You gripped his shoulders to secure your body, and only when you looked up again noticed how close your faces where.
There was this moment of stillness, where the laughing faded away, your breathing got slower, and you couldn’t for your life look away from his eyes, feeling paralyzed on the spot as he stared back at yours.
Something clicked on the apartment, and visibly startled - though he tried to hide it - SeokJin cleared his throat, an awkward smile creeping on his face as he looked away to the floor, and you tried to get yourself together. What was that?
"So, I bought ingredients for ramen, do you prefer pork or chicken? " He asked, back turned at you, but when your eyes met his figure, there was a distinct pink hue growing from his neck up to the tip of his ears, indicating his level of embarrassment. If you weren’t so awkward yourself, could even laugh at it.
"Uh pork I guess... Do you want any help? " You asked, getting off the stool carefully. Your heart was just getting back at its normal pace, and you thought it would be better to distract yourself, even lift the awkward mood by trying to learn some cooking.
“Oh no, I got this just fine." He answered too quickly, looking at you over his shoulder. "You can serve yourself another mug if you want... Preferring something more “grown-up” there’s also wine on the counter’s cabinet." Teased.
"You’re saying that, but you are the one to have five cartons of choco milk on your fridge, talk about grown-up." You rolled your eyes at his back, going to look where he indicated, and hesitated a little surprised at the stack of alcoholic beverages on that cabinet. "Do you have a drinking problem, perhaps?" Blurting as you popped back up with a wine bottle in hand - not even minding to choose, whatever was fine if it was red wine -, you startled SeokJin, that turned to you with wide eyes.
"Ah, I do have a lot of alcohol there right? Well I actually cook a lot with that, gives the food a special taste. Thought the other night’s bottle was from this stach..." He trailed off, and you looked back at him bewildered. He got that drunk at home? And headed to my house? Why was he wet then? The plot thickens.
“Good thing I didn’t let you come back, then. " You chuckled, placing the bottle beside you and going for the bottle opener beside the fridge.
"Yeah, they were in real danger that night." Chuckling he went back to whatever he was doing. The cork came off with a satisfying pop, and after finding two appropriate glasses - you were making your way pretty easily on Jin’s kitchen -, you poured in about a third of each cup, going to place it beside SeokJin, that muttered a thanks while focused with mincing vegetables.
“Now they’re in double danger, perhaps. I had kind of a shitty day, if you couldn’t tell." You quipped, making the man huff a laugh and finally turn, holding the glass with the tip of his - crooked, you noticed with a snort - fingers, motioning to make a toast.
"Yeah, mine wasn’t one of the best either. But still, let’s toast because I now have good food, good company and an amaJin wine to make me company this night. " SeokJin said, and you laughed wholeheartedly, lightly clicking your cup to his and without thinking too much, downed your wine like it was a shot, resulting in a sputtering SeokJin, and another laughing fit from your side.
"I see how it is then, then let’s get this going!" Following suit he swallowed his wine too. I’ll have a headache tomorrow, but I think it will be worth it.
