Little Nightmares Week - Day 7: Friendship

I've mentioned before how I headcanon Mono and Six developing crushes on each other but they think the other just sees them as a friend. While Mono develops a crush pretty early on, he has no idea what it actually means. Six was his first friend ever and so he figures the crush feeling just means she's a really good friend. That's also why he doesn't feel the same way towards the other kids that end up joining them. They're good friends, yes, but just not quite as good of a friend as Six is. Or at least that's how he rationalizes it in his mind.

Six, on the other hand, knows perfectly well what crushes mean. In her opinion, crushes were stupid and she had tried her hardest to deny her feelings when she realized what was going on with her. But the more Mono refers to her as his best friend the more she realizes she does indeed have a crush on him and there's not a damn thing she can do about it. Which, yeah, it's really nice to be referred to as someone's friend. But at the same time, she hates knowing that he only sees her as a friend.

Feelings are stupid.

Somewhat inspired by an incorrect quotes post I saw once. Also, figured I’d include Bait because she’s supposed to be friends with Mono and Six in my AU so it’s about time I started exploring her relationships with them.

Headcanon time! Mono and Six both end up getting mutual crushes on each other but neither of them realize it. They think the other just sees them as a  friend. In Six’s case it doesn’t help that Mono consistently refers to her as his “Best Friend.”  Which gives her mixed feelings: on one hand, being called his best friend is nice and she really doesn’t want to admit she has a crush on him (crushes are stupid) but on the other hand it makes her feel weird to be considered just a friend.

She should’ve ditched him the first chance she got, then she wouldn’t have to deal with all these stupid attachments.

Art motivation has been all over the place here recently, can't pick a subject to focus on. Missed these kiddos though so I'm glad I got enough motivation to do a small picture!

Also thinking about calling the main AU just "The Nightmares Go On AU", at least temporarily (if there's not another one named that anyways). Naming stuff always takes me forever but I want to call it something for the time being.
