Been a while since I posted anything on this account. But in the meantime I've gotten a lot better at drawing humans so that means I gotta give these kiddos updated ref sheets! Also Art Fight is coming up and I want the refs on there to be updated too.

Anyways, first up on the list was Bait. I've missed drawing this little goober <3. Did a few little changes to her design as well.

She does not yet! Bait is quite oblivious for the most part and stuff like crushes tend to fly over her head pretty easily. Plus, The Kid in the Mask has gotten quite proficient at hiding his feelings, so he's good at keeping things under wraps, haha. Who knows though, someone else might pick up on his feelings and expose him!

Wanted to test out a new watercolor brush I found and figured I would use Bait as a guinea pig. And make it somewhat fall themed because why not?

Finally sat down and listened to all of The Sounds of Nightmares and holy shit, that was such a wild ride!! Love all of the new lore that came from it, it really helped to get the creative juices flowing and I'm so excited to start creating again. Got a lot of ideas and headcanons floating around in my head and I can't wait to get them out!

Been a while since I posted anything here, got caught up with another game. But the announcement of the new LN game has started to reignite my obsession! Also realized there's still a couple of things in my drafts I never got around to finishing. Time to get on those!

Anyways, Bait was next on the list of updated refs. This poor gal really does get more scars every time I draw her.

Appearance: Bait is the shortest member of the group, standing barely an inch shorter than Six. She wears an oversized brown jacket and light blue undergarments. She's sewn two plush ears into the hood of the jacket as well as white fabric to resemble teeth. She has also sewn a plush tail into the back of the jacket. She has a number of small scars on her legs and face and her right eye is missing. She's got large freckles scattered across her face and shoulders.

Personality: Bait is a busy-body and would much rather be up and about doing things instead of sitting around. Doesn't even really matter what it is as long as she can keep her hands and her mind busy. She loves to be helpful and would be more than happy to chip in on someone else's project if they needed help. Problem is, she has a very hard time focusing on one thing for a long period of time and it won't be long before she's moved on to the next thing.  It would always get her in trouble in her old group.

She's also quite oblivious, in regards to a lot of things. Not once did she ever think that her old group was full of shitty kids. Sure, it was up to her to do a very dangerous job but that's just because she was so good at it. And they knew that of course! The name they gave her, Bait, was just a coincidence (not that she knew what it meant at first anyways).

Brief summary of her backstory as I'd really like to delve into it at a later date.

Bait was part of a small group that constantly kept on the move. They would run into a variety of monsters as a result. Bait's role, once it was discovered how easily she could slip away, was to lead anything dangerous they encountered away from the group so they could proceed safely. She would meet up with them after she lost the threat, following markers they would put down for her. Following a severe injury, Bait's "job" became harder for her to handle, which finally resulted in her getting caught. Instead of killing her however, the monster took her to The Maw, where she would eventually meet with most of the main group.

I'm already bored with the other ref sheets I made so now everyone's going to be getting a new one. Plus I like to think that maybe I've gotten a little bit better at drawing humans since I made the other ones. Going to actually include some information on these as well!

This version of Six is how she appears in my AU, currently titled The Nightmares Go On! Her appearance is largely unchanged from her canon look aside from the fact I gave her freckles (because you can't go wrong with freckles).

Personality: Six is definitely not the nicest kid you'll ever meet and even seems to go out of her way to try and make people dislike her. She's tried the whole grouping up and making friends thing. In the end, it would always end the same way; with the other person either dying or stabbing her in the back to save their own skin. Six would much rather go in alone. If she did ever had to team up with someone temporarily, well, if she got them to dislike her right off the bat then there would be no chance of either side getting attached to each other. And when the inevitable dying or betrayal happened, it would hurt way less.

Ever since befriending Mono, however, Six has slowly started to let her guard down. Her mean jabs don't have as much of a bite to them (they almost seem playful) and she feels warmer, in a sense. This side of her is really only saved for Mono though. She still retains her cold and harsh demeanor with the others, although admittedly she's not quite as mean as she would've been had she never met Mono. But trusting and liking others still doesn't come easily. She built those walls of hers high after all.

A little bit of backstory stuff as well now. The mobile game, Very Little Nightmares, is canon to this AU and part of Six's history. Before the events of LN2, Six was actually part of a small group that happened upon The Nest. The girl running the place seemed a little weird, but she was kind enough to welcome the group in when they were in need. Good things apparently don't last though and one by one, members of her group started to disappear as the girl who welcomed them in began to show her true colors. It wasn't long before Six was the only one left. It was too late for the others but Six could still try and make her escape. Her escape attempt lines up with The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat arriving at The Nest.

Note: To make this a little less confusing, characters that have neutral opinions of each other won't have any lines connecting them.

So, I thought it would be fun to do one of these relationship charts for the current kiddos. Hopefully it's not too confusing to look at lol. This will be updated as their relationships develop and as I add more characters cause I've got a couple more planned, not including the mystery one up there.

I was going to use this picture to ramble about their relationships but uh... that would be a lot to put down. So instead this will just be an at-a-glance guide and I'll do something a little more in depth for each character later.

Little Nightmares Week - Day 7: Friendship

I've mentioned before how I headcanon Mono and Six developing crushes on each other but they think the other just sees them as a friend. While Mono develops a crush pretty early on, he has no idea what it actually means. Six was his first friend ever and so he figures the crush feeling just means she's a really good friend. That's also why he doesn't feel the same way towards the other kids that end up joining them. They're good friends, yes, but just not quite as good of a friend as Six is. Or at least that's how he rationalizes it in his mind.

Six, on the other hand, knows perfectly well what crushes mean. In her opinion, crushes were stupid and she had tried her hardest to deny her feelings when she realized what was going on with her. But the more Mono refers to her as his best friend the more she realizes she does indeed have a crush on him and there's not a damn thing she can do about it. Which, yeah, it's really nice to be referred to as someone's friend. But at the same time, she hates knowing that he only sees her as a friend.

Feelings are stupid.

Little Nightmares Week - Day 5: Nome

Although he never gave them much though before, The Runaway Kid grows to be quite fond of the Nomes during his latest escape attempt from The Maw. Any he finds outside of The Maw seem to be drawn to him as well.

Little Nightmares Week - Day 4: Boat

Bait is captured by The Ferryman and taken to The Maw. She's not sure which is scarier, being out in the middle of the ocean on a rickety boat or the giant monster currently staring her down.

Little Nightmares Week - Day 1: Guilt

Although the time loop will eventually be broken, there's already been plenty of instances where Six has dropped Mono. And personally, I like to headcanon that Six does indeed feel guilty for doing so. It wasn't something she was planning to do, it was very much a spur of the moment thing brought on by a bunch of stuff.

Got some more headcanons coming at you! From what I understand, Six was basically inflicted with escapism while she was in the tower. She felt safe, she felt secure, nothing could hurt her while she was here. It was made even better when Mono found her. Now they could be safe together! But of course Mono couldn't see any of that. He simply saw his friend twisted into a horrible monster. And he would do anything to save her. Even if it hurt her, as long as he was able to get her free then it would all be worth it.

And hurt her it did. Not only physically but she was also ripped from her perfect fantasy world without any say in the matter. By the very person she thought she could trust. In that moment she couldn't see Mono as being her knight in shining armor, come to rescue her from the monsters. Instead, he was one of the monsters. And so, when the time came, she wasn't thinking straight. The feelings of betrayal and anger boiled over and she yanked her arm away, dropping him into the abyss.

But once she escaped and made her way into the city again, the weight of what she did would slowly start to settle over her. It would then come to a head when she took notice of a small paper bag floating down the street where the water was starting to overflow. She had dropped her best friend. She didn't mean to, didn't want to. One angry, spur of the moment decision and now her best friend was dead.

Maybe she was one of the monsters.
