Let’s take a moment to be grateful Duncan made it through the comic. Because Joe Hill really likes writing lines that are ironic and bitter in hindsight.

And in Clockworks volume 5, after the Black Door Incident little Duncan says:

Like. Let’s just be glad Hill didn’t do anything with that. No mental health crises for Duncan, no murder attempt that Dodge stages to look like a suicide so as to cover his tracks, no, Duncan’s absolutely fine. Probably the most stable member of the Locke family. That’s a win.

As much as I wanted a true to the comics adaptation of Locke and Key, and as much as I think the show could have benefited from sticking closer to the comics, I am willing to admit that there are some parts better left out.

I cannot stand Joe Hill because he referenced his own father’s work in the Locke and Key series.

Y’know, sometimes the book and film of the something are two very different pieces, but both good stories in their own right.

Ssfdfdfaff I’m thinking about the scene that inevitably transpired at some point before killing the janitors in the asylum, Dodge had to fucking. Go to like. An AT&T store and buy a phone. He’s a demon-teen from the 80s, with no idea of what a cellphone is, and he had to go to a store, with real money, and buy a phone, get registered with a number, sign up for a plan, learn what texting is and generally everything else about how to work a phone.

And unlike every other challenge he faces, he can’t intimidate the workers there into giving him what he wants or just sneak in and steal a phone. He had to walk into a store and get the lowdown on what a cellphone is and how to work it.

I find that hilarious, and would actually really enjoy reading a comic, solely about this monster-man learning about 2012 technology. This is a vein of untapped potential.

He called himself Zach Wells. Is that a fucking reference to where he came from, the Wellhouse, that he decided to make because no one would figure it out? What an asshole.
