Mathematical dilemma
I need some help y'all. A few weeks ago I needed a shift covered, and I offered an extra $10 to whoever covered the shift. I got a response from Sally*. She said she'd take it. I got an email from Jane* a week later about that same shift asking how I was going to get her the $10. I'm kind of confused. Jane did not respond my email about the extra money. Sally did. But Sally did not work that shift. Jane did. Am I still obligated to give Jane money even though she wasn't the person who responded to my email? Because the way I see it, it became Sally's responsibility to get Jane $10 because Sally was the one who responded and then didn't work the shift she said she would cover. Am I in the wrong here? I kind of feel like an asshole about it, but Jane has been emailing me and actually texted me through Sally's phone about it. Like, I'm sorry that your friend Sally didn't work a shift she said she would cover, but I am not responsible for that shift's extra perks because your friend did not earn those perks from me.
