name: loïc funière date of birth / date of death: april 4th 1887 / december 12th 1929 (aged 42) birthplace: brussels, belgium residence: bruges, belgium pronouns: he/him sexuality: gay positive: collected, dutiful, present, trusting, altruistic negative: frigid, avoidant, unimpressed, apathic, bitter likes: the simple luxury of a satin-lined coffin, catching the last of the sun through the curtains, the way some men smirk at his unexpected flirtations dislikes: being away from home, spiders, travelling
loïc was the son of a sailor and maid who had immigrated to belgium in the late 19th century. he was 30 when he came across the bruges clan, but wasn't turned until he was 42. he was francesca's second turning, as her first had passed away (and the rules allow a second successor if the first should die).
he is known as the most dutiful of them all. he worked tirelessly for the cause of the clan, however vague it may be at times. he also chose his successor carefully, settling on sofie for reasons the clan had to experience before they fully understood.
when she came to him in so much distress over the possible losing of a mortal lover - was tim a lover? this remains unclear. loïc denied sofie at first, but eventually yielded when he realized he'd give her everything as he had given her eternal life.
when the clan found out, their decision was ruthless: tim was to be killed and loïc would be banished. yet kija, who was to assassinate tim, showed mercy and urged the fledgeling vampire to leave bruges with loïc. the two have been roaming around ever since, loïc still dutifully fulfilling the clan's search for knowledge, however futile his quest may be now that he's been banished.
